Any woodworkers?

I’m not gonna tell.

Finish is dry to the touch , but not cured. I want my wife to be able to park inside again. So, we decided to let it finish curing inside. The Natura One Coat does not smell so no problem.

Celebrated with a pour of one of my best bottles of bourbon.

Nothing else will be set on it for a day or so.





Living room is coming together! Chairs, TV Console, art frame, Coffee Table. Still need an end table with a drawer at the end of the couch. Perhaps a multi level plant stand for the awkward area to the left of the TV.

 

Very nicely done. Heirloom pieces for sure. If I could like the post 4 times I would!

 

If this table has a "mistake" somewhere, I think you'd truly vomit at the sight of some of the crap I attempt lol

 

almost all of the furniture in the last pic was made by you, that's very impressive and something to be proud of. Great job!

 

Wife's friend was missing a tile for her antique Mah Jong set. So I sealed the wood and then etched the design with my cnc. Red gel stain was next. Sealed it again.
Hard part was matching the wood grain and finish. Took several attempts

 

I got tired of walking around vacuum hoses and cords, and my "vortex" dust collector falling over. So I did something about it before I jump into the desk build.

The hose on the front sticks out to far, so I gave the vac a 1/4 turn and will shorten the hose from the dust collector.

I also need to anchor the collection bucket down with a strap to prevent it form falling over. The vac still has its wheels attached and they sit in holes cut through the bottom plywood. And there is enough room for a larger bucket or small barrel. With a little modification I will be able to put a shop dust collector on it in the future if that isn't a permanent mount someplace. This set up may save some $$ on routing pipes and hoses, so we'll see what happens.

Takes some floor space, but it's functional and let's me take the vac out to use separately. I can also separate the back and bottom so it takes less room when we move.

 

Well as you can see my new workbench is piled on top of the old workbench and then at any given time I pile stuff on top of that. So now you see why progress has stalled on the new workbench, lol. But I do need to find time to work on it somehow.

Safest way to reduce these short pieces is running them through the drum sander. Going from 3/8" to 1/4" for the necklaces.

When I'm all done there is very little waste, lol.

 

Couple of adjustments this morning on the cart. Shortened the hose between the vac and the dust collector. Added two pieces of scrap to.the front and back of the tool storage to prevent the accessories from falling off the "shelf".


That should do it, but now I'm thinking about a sanding station with the downdraft table I made awhile back. It's not wide enough to go all the way across and I'd have to make it high enough to not block getting the vac out. We'll see...

 

Started work on the end table build.

Glued up the top panel in two stages. Then, added the bevel to the bottom.



Cut the legs.


Mocked up the drawer front and other three sides.



Put the new seat on the saved chair.



Now it is time for a beer!!

 

33 crosses are now boxed up and ready to take to church. Species are Mesquite, hard and soft maple, and box elder.

 

Finally learning a little bit in engraving. Got my Comgrow Z1 laser linked up today. Nothing fancy yet but hopefully I can do some cool stuff.

Baby steps. You will be running the marathon soon enough.

 

Sanded everything to 220 then glued up the leg structure. Drawer slides should be here Thursday. Then I can build the drawer, attach slides, and apply finish.

 

This evening I got the magnets glued into 29 refrigerator magnets.

Hopefully tomorrow after work I can wipe them down to remove any excess oil.

Getting married in a few weeks and made a few cutting boards for people that are helping out with the wedding.

 

Sweet! What is the wood? Will not matter to the recipients I am sure but "Enquiring/invasive minds want to know". Looks like walnut and a maple?

 

Just some walnut and curly maple. Kind of my go to for quick cutting boards.
