I’m thinking of getting some new lights for my 2nd gen Tacoma. I’m debating whether I wanna get some Xenon bulbs, or just replace the whole housing and get some nice halo lights that come standard with AlphaRex. I’m switching from Halogen to LED’s, and was curious if anyone had done either of the swaps, and had any suggestions.

If you must pick of those 2, replace the housing. Do not put the Xenon bulbs in a regular housing, you'll be blinding others on the road.

You should check this out. I got the Osram bulbs for my 2015 stock lights. Very happy withe the results.

Whatever you do, please make sure your lights air aimed correctly to spec so you don't become another public safety hazard by blinding oncoming drivers. That's what most aftermarket headlight alternatives do. Safety device, not a bling delivery system...

Maybe I’m an asshole, but the idea of blinding people is a little bit of the intent haha. What’s wrong with the alpharex? Would it be worth it to buy the halo lights, and just add the xenon bulbs afterwards, obviously given that they fit? If there are any other good LED brands please let me know. I just know Xenon as like a staple name as much as bobcat, or sawzall.

Why would you want to intentionally blind people?

It’s only a little bit that I wanna do that. But it would be to combat the other people who put LED lights in halogen based lamps. That and I live around a lot of Jeep people. Nothing against them, it’s just they have annoying ass lights, and any metal bumper they have gets loaded with a minimum of two additional led fog lamps per side. Other than that, I don’t really wanna be “that guy”.

Soooooooo...you are going to "teach a lesson" to maybe 15% of the population by giving them a taste of their own medicine while pissing off the other 85% you used to be a member of?

Amazon and Ebay probably have some bright and affordable options that will last for weeks and weeks.

Like I said it’s not worth being “that guy” so no I don’t plan on doing it. It was more of a funny thing. Like “hey nice brights,” (turns on the sun).

I guess it's okay to be that guy. Not like there aren't people out there who have light sensitivity issues, such as my wife. Thanks so much for being considerate of others.

I like the stock cheapie yellow lights. It’s funny how when you pass other vehicles (with the yellow bulbs - and there seems to be a lot of them, now) we look at each other and smile. I was right, only idiots have that bright shit on streets and highways. Edit: oh and they last like 8 years+

A literal case of "an eye for an eye makes the world blind".

    That too.

Not to mention the fact that when you go that bright and use the stock housing, you're actually putting less useable light down the road to help you drive by.

I know it doesn't mean much, but in my opinion, there are plenty of new vehicles out there that already blind you.

This is true, but it's not a case of using the wrong equipment in some of those cases. We recently rented a Chevy Equinox and it seemed bright as hell to me
