I can tell from experience that having run 235s and 315, the 315 just ride better, more of a pillow to ride on. That doesnt mean that you cant get a good ride with the narrow rubber, just that the wider ones road better. There are drawbacks though, fuel economy, cost, and the steering wheel becomes more of a suggestion box.

I agree with that, I had 235s on this truck as well and they rode terribly, no matter what. Came down a lot to being e load on a light truck. But I can vouch for the pillowyness of a 12+" tire.

Ive only ran LT tires, never found an issue. If it is too rough it is your suspension. I have P rated on the truck now and it rides like a dump truck because i have too stuff of suspension for the weight of the truck. Back when it weighed half a ton more the suspension was butter.

I've always run LT tires as well, and on this truck C,D and E load. E load were by far the worse. Because my truck was so light. As a stop single can at that point .

Gotta love it! Will probably get another leather wrap, but enjoying the "luxury car skinny wheel" feel for the time being!

I think you'd end up with a good bit more than that. We just started tuning a turbo 2RZ that we built for my buddy's 1991 Pickup and we're pretty sure we can get 250 to the wheels without even stressing it, should be even easier with the larger 3RZ in your truck.

Interesting, It is something I have looked into but never committed to, its also tempting to go for a TDI motor as well. The 2.7 doesn't bug me since its been slow since it was stock, but when I am going 45-50 up a pass I have a lot of time to think about it, especially compared to my 2.3 in my ranger that hauls up any pass even towing with a camper.

TDI isn't a bad swap, but it's much more cost, fabrication, and time involved for an engine that is roughly 90hp... Still gotta tune em to get some power out, although the mileage is excellent right out of the box at least. I liked my 3RZ trucks when I had them, it's a good engine but it demands proper gearing and frankly if it's mated to an auto, it shouldn't have been haha. But all of the RZ engines turbo quite well with some fuel injectors, colder plugs, and a standalone ECU.

had the 1.9 TDI swapped in my XJ. Converted to manual injection pump and bigger top mounted turbo after my flanges for the compounds cracked. Super fun to drive
