Lady did a right on red while I had the green light today. I didn’t have time to even touch the brakes doing 45mph. Whole front of the truck is slid about 18” back from the frame (bull bar is in about the right place) but no impingement into the cab. Pass side door buckled shut but very minor injuries from both occupants. Though I liked my first gen better I have to say the gen 2 did amazing keeping occupants safe and actually still cranks and drives on its on power, though it makes bad noises…

I’ll be in the market for a gen 1 or 2 with around 200k miles or less 4wd manual trans soon! More pics tomorrow at daylightIMG_4888.png IMG_4889.png

Hope you’re OK! How did it end up back at your house? You can’t fix that.

I have to say I’m very impressed with the safety system! Mostly just soreness. I had the wrecker take it to my house rather than to a yard

Still fighting with State Farm on the condition of the vehicle…they’re unwavering even when they’re wrong…tires are only a few months old amongst other things

First off - sorry for your loss, glad everyone is ok!

I'd be curious what they look at when evaluating. I would have never thought tires would come in to play, for example. Do you have a full appraisal document? I also have a 200k 2G, and in the next couple months I'm putting an ungodly amount of money in to an all OEM refresh/PM since it's still such a fantastic rig. My assumption is none of that would matter and I'd get the same for a mechanically perfect high desert truck as midwest rust bucket in horrific shape, and this is a huge gamble to 'invest' in. But maybe it would matter, especially with documentation?

on the insurance one it factored everything according to the report (all be it incorrect) ie they dinged me on condition because of leaking fluids (although she didn’t leak a drop till the collision) they also took off value due to the transmission fluid being brown (which gear oil is fresh out the bottle) and had incorrect validation due to condition notes. The adjuster said condition comes into play, but repairs do not. For example I put new calipers on last month, that doesn’t matter to them. But tire condition, paint, interior, and drivetrain conditions do matter

No clue. She tried to drive off but only made it about 2 miles down the road so I never got to meet her

A few, mainly added skids. I like leaving the suspension alone. I drive forest service dirt roafs in the desert west extremely extremely too fast. Toyota nailed this suspension going 65 across desert terrain. Changing it is dumb unless you have a specific need like crawling or mud.
Ouch man. Sorry to see your truck go. Glad you are safe and already thinking about your next rig.

Correct. Repairs have virtually no impact on the value, short of a new/rebuilt engine or transmission. Condition definitely matters.

It's pretty clear based on your photo that they measured your tread depth incorrectly. If they're saying they're rating the engine/trans the way that they are due to leaking fluid, tell them to go back and look again, and that all of the leaks are from the accident. Any competent appraiser can tell whether the leaks are fresh or not.

I argued that (among other things) apparently they (State Farm) didn’t even send an appraiser on site, only went by photos. I spoke with the adjuster and he refused to change any of the conditions so I enacted my Appraisal Clause and hired my own independent appraiser. They have yet to respond back to my request.

Most of what you're describing would not matter much as far as Actual Cash Value goes.

When doing a total loss appraisal, I looked at everything I could. Any rust, dents, door dings, deep scratches, "park by sound" scrapes on the bumper? Burns/stains/holes on the carpet, seats, headliner, door panels? COndition of fluids that I could access? Condition of the tires?

As I mentioned in my prior reply, short of a major engine/trans overhaul or replacement, most maintenance items aren't goint to matter much from an ACV standpoint. Most aftermarket items add only a small amount relative to what they cost, and some add no value at all.

    They'll respond. They have to.

Collision Safety Consultants is an excellent appraisal service.

That is actually who I hired to do my appraisal. They pissed me off when I told them the inaccuracies, with video and photo proof, and they told me too bad

The thing that kills me is I just want something fair, it’s silly to me that both parties have to spend more money to get the same result.

Incompetence runs rampant in the auto insurance industry and in the collision repair industry. I couldn't wait to get out of the damage appraisal part of the industry.
