It can’t be much worse than the gunk the cnc sump grows.

I’m in my third attempt to complete the titan assembly - keep having to get missing parts sent out. “Some assembly required” got to a new level tho:

Thanks for the tips. Much appreciated as I haven't mess with anything yet beside getting the machine to run on mach3 and test cuts.

But my machine cut odd shapes holes and I took a look at my table earlier and saw the leadscrew spring loose on both axis. Not much pressure and it came apart. I think there maybe play in the screw and ordered 2 new ones and slats. Not sure if they just sell the plastic pieces. Didn't op to order the thc yet but that will be my next move once I get more run time.

    20240922_162340.jpg

Once the parts get in hopefully I got the time to take it apart and install the XL kit at the same time.

Pretty easy on the Crossfire, though that's probably the one thing I miss

Less parts = easier to ensure it's perfect

I'll have to call Langmuir tomorrow and see how much a few specific parts are just in case

I usually let mine dry a few days (if you have time) then use an 8" drywall knife to scrape and dump into a 5-gallon bucket.

I would never say this on LS site because I'd get slammed, but I decided against the dimple die and recessing my drains. I like the fact that it helps keep the fines from getting into my storage tank. I crack my valves to where water is just trickling into the tank so as not to pick up sludge and let it drain overnight. I also cut a piece of 3M scuff pad and twist it into each drain hole. Yes, it leaves a little water behind, but my tank has no sludge in the bottom. The remaining water is low enough that when I scrape the sludge, it comes out with that.

It's one of those "either way" works kind of choices.

The group in the forum is pretty chill, mostly, but I notice that when one member has a strong opinion against something you say...another member will sometimes dogpile.

Have you noticed how my responses don't change though when other members become abrasive?

I just don't care for it; I post on there since I like to believe the collective experience can benefit anyone/everyone (whether it's mine or theirs that they're sharing).

In what way did you add your scuff pad makeshift filter?

My flanges arrive today along with the gaskets. I plan to drill holes and mount them in place and mock up for PVC in the next few days.

On the plus side, I noticed my table out of square by almost 1/8" and have brought it to within less than 1/32" now.

Not that my pieces ever cut out of square, but I'm looking at every possible opportunity to make sure my table is as perfect as I can get it.

Since ensuring Y is square within 1/32", my X is now square even tighter than that

Used 1" machined, magnetic shims to rest both sets of bearings and they're both equal

Still need to go back and adjust the bearing blocks some more; I'm not exactly sure how "free rolling" it should be but it does roll a bit when I push it

Could be a combination of tension on the bearing blocks along with dirty bearings

Little bit of stainless practice before I weld up that header.

    Looks great!

What color and size tungsten did you use? I'm going to be making a stainless snorkel in the near future. All I had to weld up my stainless exhaust was 3/32 red. I feel like it was too big for the relatively thin wall tubing. Ended up with a fat bead no matter what I tried.

Thanks man! I used 3/32 laYZr tungsten and .035 309L filler. Mfurik BBL cup.

Thanks, I'll give them a shot. Only like two away from having all the colors of the tungsten rainbow at this point.

Started a new fab project for the Bronco. Welding slider extensions to the OEM Bronco rock rails using tube made for a Jeep JK. Then adding my own step plates for my wife and kid. Been really fun so far and even got to finally fire up the plasma for the first time. Damn is getting speed right difficult. I figured out what my speed needed to be and got almost no dross but it was so fast that it was unmaintainable for the curve I was cutting. Straight line cut I had was fucking mint though, and even the dross I did have easily came off with a wire wheel.

    Tacked up:

And the start of a fill.

I know a lot of people only stitch weld these plates right? I think I am afraid only stitches will look half finished.

    Looks good!

I'd probably run a few small beads, something like 2" long with 4" centers that way it looks evenly spaced apart (and finished).

    Yeah, they're okay. I'd say mid-way between 1st and 3rd gen :D

I like to learn by trying things a little different than the group think. My mistakes over there have been the times I talked about swimming against the tide. A few of the crusty types let me know about it! Especially my defense of the Primeweld Cut60... Chinese crap!

Super stoked on this. Using the HF knockout punch set (pipe sized) and the eastwood dimple die set (tube sized) that I got for $150 instead of their like $330 list price. In the end you don't get as pronounced of a dimple on thicker metal but it still looks good enough for an amatuer like me. The combo made super quick work of this. One day I'll get the professional quality stuff but for now I'm happy with this haha.

You're gonna love it, especially the exterior "grind" button

The inside LED flashes to warn you if leave it on grind mode by accident when you flip your hood down
