Went to drop off my 3rd Gen Tacoma off at a dealership today for my appointment regarding the 3rd brake light replacement. Once being there I was told the repair along with the carpet being replaced was a minimum of 3 months and that there were no loaner or rentals available. I feel like Toyota should still find a way to resolve the issue of me not having a vehicle since I have to drop it off. Has anybody else dealt with this?

3 months?? I don't get it. Are the parts available?
What needs to be done? Seats and carpets out, back panel removal, light removal and install.
I'm not a Toyota tech but to me it would seem like 2-3 days, one week tops?
Any Toyota techs that could explain procedure?

I believe to satisfy the Toyota requirement fully, the interior parts are removed, the sounds deadening is scrapped, and a mold remediation company (like ServPro) comes in to salvage what they can, parts are ordered, and reinstalled.
From the sounds of it, there are two major time sucks. the scrapping and having to subcontract out the mold cleaning of part like seats etc.

I justhad this done a month ago because I noticed wetness in the rear seats and headliner after a rinse.

All they do is install an improved gasket, replace housing. It took a matter of hours for me. I was one of the lucky recipients of a recall letter for the third brake light. Did you receive a notice in the mail at all?

This is what they do if there is no mold present,,,, but if there is, it's a full on strip down, remediation, replacement parts, and reinstall.

You're right.. I'm guessing op has that issue. I'm lucky to have caught it before things got bad. I've got a 2016 so mine held up for a bit before crapping out. I actually got the letter from Toyota over a year ago, decided to hold onto it until it actually became an issue.

OP I feel like the dealership should have gave you a heads up about the whole timeframe and loaner situation before hand, but what do I know. I'm young and dumb.

Looks like quite the process with getting approvals and parts if water damage and/or mold is found.
You have until 4/30/2025 to get it done though.

Once they schedule it in, you should be able to keep driving it during the 3 months until repair time?
