Did you have this tip made and then welded on? I’m trying to find one close to that size I can just clamp on, but having no luck…. All the ones I find are like 9” long and will get too close to other parts. Thanks!

Nope, I walked into Autozone and just looked for something that was the right size. Then had it welded on.

Went ahead and cut mine. If you are thinking about it, just do it. Sounds the exact same, picks up clearance and does not heat anything up around the exit. Stop thinking, just cut!!! :sawzall:

AWE high clearance exhaust here, can report that I have not passed out behind the wheel due to exhaust fume inhalation yet :)

In all seriousness, haven't smelled or noticed the high clearance at all.

I can't remember but it was not really expensive and pretty easy to install.

THX - like I said in the other comment it really is not expensive at all and easy to install. I was getting extended bump stops anyway. I never snagged the stock U-bolts on anything going off road though but they bothered me for some reason the way the kind of hang down. Same with the exhaust - just bugged me - I never hit the exhaust - before I cut it -but been out on the trail with some folks that have. The two things that I have avoided that have gotten other I been off road with are tie-rods and smashed exhausts. Not worried about the exhaust knock on wood about the tie rods though - I do have spindle gussets welded on for whatever that is worth.

    This and that
Mine has been chopped for a while. I also have the trd intake. Pro exhaust. Tuned. Pulled the spare the other day, not important to why, but now my exhaust, on the highway, has some dronieness to it. But I have a solution.

how much lift did you get out of that leaf pack ? And did you have to do anything with the brake lines ?

~ 2" - didn't have to extend the break lines

Any of you guys had it like this for a while? Are you noticing rattles developing around the cab?

My old loud Honda fetish led to all kinds of rattling dashboard pieces and door panels etc

Would this be a concern if I have kids in the back seat? I've really been wanting to do this, but all 3 of my kids sit back there, my truck is my family hauler. It's the only thing keeping me from doing it....

Don’t see how it would be. No different exhaust smell at all for me and many others as you will see in this thread.

Been chopped for years, no difference in smell or sound. The only thing I will recommend is that when cut do so in a spot where the tube is not facing dorectly at the shackle or the bump stop(which ever one you have) There have been some issues with the heat melting/warping materials.

^^^^ Agreed. I made sure mine is facing downward, and I’ve got 0 issues at all. Drive around with the windows down all the time with my dog in the back.

The new Trail Hunter literally has its stock exhaust dumped under the vehicle. If I decide to get fancy, I’ll probably also weld a turn down at the end of my muffler vs how it’s done now, but I’m happy as is.

Definitely do not cut it just at the muffler - rather cut it facing down and past the axle.
