Im not a lawyer, so please do your own reading, but my understanding is the following:

    1. Glock 45
    - if you arent a Cali resident then the handgun roster does not apply to you. so long as your firearm is legally transported (unloaded in a locked case) the gun itself is fine.

    - there is a ban on "large capacity" aka oem magazines, but it does not have as much teeth as people think

" Possession: Simple possession of a large-capacity magazine is a "wobblette" offense under PC 32310(c), meaning it can be charged as an infraction or a misdemeanor:

    2. night sites.
As has already been mentioned. It is better and cheaper to buy a gun with OEM night sights.

If for some reason you find yourself buying a gun that does not have night sights (great deal, police trade in, ect) then your best bet is to find a reputable shop that has a gunsmith and sells night sights. often they will charge you ~20% more for the sights, but install for free.

Thanks for the information. I understand your "disclaimer". My brother is a lawyer teaching tax law at UVA. He pays his bar dues but has consistently begged off offering specific advice because he is not "insured" as full-practicing lawyers do. And in this case he would flat refuse to even want to pass on an opinion from others in case he is wrong and I end up in legal trouble ... I understand that.

I had a shop install Ameriglo on my G45 back in 2020 (the gun shop I bought it from gave me a complimentary 50-rd box of ammunition because they knew I would have difficulty finding it). The sights came to $100 installed.

Most of the wheel SW do not have, those with start at $750. Many at $1000+.

I will find a way to get a firmer opinion. My trip to Imperial Sand Dunes on Saturday (the last sand-buggy free Saturday this year) I may ask authorities ... I will not have the gun with me so they can search the truck if they want.

When the city used to offer bulk pick up on specific dates I'd place items on the curb. They'd be gone in 20 minutes or less from people driving by.

Any junk collection service is going to charge 500 or more.

I'd rent a trailer from HD and run it to the dump. One free dump run per month with a utility bill and the trailer is under $100 for 4 hours. There's a few scrap metal places around that'll pay next to nothing for your metal, but at least it's a way to dispose of items.

I'll add CA doesn't allow you to bring ammo into the state. Not sure if that's the route you were going, but that's also an infraction or misdemeanor. I'd be really careful about asking law enforcement questions about firearms laws in CA even if your intentions were educational and harmless. That state's court system is...special to say the least.

So how do you get ammunition? Can you walk in off the street ... look old enough and just pay?

I believe an ID and background check are required nowadays. Not sure if you have to be a resident there or not.

edit: Valid CA driver's license, legal age and a background check. You'd have more luck throwing the firearm at something.

Has CA outlawed the bow and arrow? Maybe the biblical rock-and-sling?

So I can safely assume your next "retirement spot" search is in CA?

I have a nephew living ln LA ... some mention of running near "Malibu Pier". I was thinking of visiting Joshua Tree ... not that I know the best trails without several visits. If I moved to west LV to be only 2 hours from DV, but the laws even in DV may be too strongly enforced.

Maybe I can find a nice rent-controlled apartment in NYC.

I grew up in CA and if there's two things I know, it's don't give the cops more rope to hang you with and don't fuck with the gun laws. When I travel to CA I will only take roster guns (usually a .357 revolver and/or a 45-70 lever) and go way beyond any transport laws. You can be entirely right and still find yourself on the bad side of a rough weekend if they feel like it.

Sounds about right. I got one wash done so far and the smell is pretty much gone. I think I may just go trade it in.

They have the problem with your capacity. No more than 10 rounds. When traveling gun and ammo has to be stored separately in locked cases out of the reach of the driver. You are fine with the wheel gun. Just cant be loaded. Now do I listen to this law?
