Wow, lots of opinions in this thread. I use these steelies from my 2nd gen and coated them in black enamel paint. I use winter 265/75 A/T tires and with no TMPS. My speedo is off by 1-2mph due to larger tires not the wheels. The issue you may have is those damn center caps falling off. The eBay spares are expensive.

The simple answer to you question is to just jack up a front wheel, take your existing wheel off, and bolt up the SR steelie. (without any tire) If there’s no interference with your brakes/rotors, you’re good to go. Make sure you are using the correct lug nuts for the steel wheels.

Going up to a larger rim size is usually not a problem, but going down in size is limited by the brake / suspension clearances.

So far in this thread there's only one person who says they've put them onto a 3rd gen TRD Sport.
I don't have any proof that this is possible or not. But Toyota spent the money to design a new 17" steel wheel for the spare tire on the Sport. That's a lot of money and effort for a part that doesn't need to exist.

And they stopped providing that in 2020 and gave them all a 16” spare. The sport takes 16’s perfectly fine.

Ha, if this thread is still going in a month when I put them on for the winter I’ll be sure to share it. For now this thread and my friend here should do. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/show-us-your-3rd-gen-steelies.590809/#post-24496125

There is no guesswork or need to test. All 3rd gens have the same brakes. Any stock wheel will fit any truck.

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
They will absolutely fit fine. I run them on my 2022 with snow tires in the winter. Wheel diameter won't effect speedo readings, tire diameter will. FWIW with the stock size tires my speedo was about 2mph high at 75 but going up to a 265/75R16 made it spot on. The issue you will run into is with your TPMS system. You can get another set of sensors and have them programmed every time you switch wheels or buy aftermarket sensors and have them cloned to your original TPMS ID's. Last option is built a chamber out of PVC, put your stock sensors in it, and pressurize the chamber to 32'ish psi to fool the system like I did.

Yes, you are correct steel is made up of iron and carbon and it will rust considerably worse than an aluminum alloy.
