I love mine. Although I was coming from a garbage tier corded black and decker, so that may be coloring my opinion.

I also have the hedge trimmer attachment. Heavy to heave around after a while but nice to have the reach

 

Just picked it up, will be nice to have one that works

 

As far as the knockoffs go, I wonder if TTC has done any year or 2 reviews on them. A lot of things are robust fresh outta the box but torture tested is a different deal altogether. I’ve abused the crap outta my hackzall and grinder and they both work like the day I bought them every time I pick them up. Milwaukee just seems to me durable well made stuff.

 

I had a little inadvertent drop
test from the top of my 12’ step ladder while I was hanging some lights in my shop with my M12 installation driver. I set it down for a sec and knocked off of the ladder onto the concrete slab and thought I completely fucked it up. The battery spit out but it still works just fine.

 

check the battery holding tabs that lock the battery into the tool. that's how i mucked up the 6.0 m12 battery i was using in my m12 surge. it got pushed off the ladder the same way and i tried cushioning it with my foot which turned into a kick, near the ceiling height of a 3 story basket ball court...

the surge still works fine, but the battery no longer likes latching into anything.

 

That's really a speed button that increases the speed of the motor, while it does provide more suction it doesn't really make much of a difference, I've also tried their "High Lift" blade which also does not make a discernable difference. Overall I like the mower but just wish it was better.

 

Hard not to browse the tools on Home Depot deal of the day, today.

 

i don't remember who was talking about the new m12 stubby impact, but this is really interesting--torque test channel's numbers indicate it needs a very specific battery pack to get full numbers. even running the 6.0 battery isn't the same output as the 5.0 'high output' version battery. they also reference that the new full-size m18 has a reference on the product page that it only gets 1600 ft/lbs with the forge battery pack..

very curious to me-- i've always bought the 3.0 compact m12 batteries, or the 6.0 high output m18 batteries specifically for this, but their testing indicates that it's still wrong, and the new batteries/power tools have some voodoo going on to only work at full capacity when paired together.

it's definitely raising questions for me if they also built in a battery quality monitor-- so as a forge or 5.0HO battery gets to say 5 years old, if the torque will drop just as significantly as running a lesser battery pack...

 

Not to be rude but its been like this for quite a while, with both the m12 1st gen stubby impact and right angle impact having the most power with the larger battery, it makes sense that a high output battery is going to have more power then a standard similarly amp hour sized battery. I would not be surprised if over half the r&d goes into newer and better battery pack technology and when designing a new tool they are going to design it to work best using the newest battery packs.
In my experiance if I want to know what battery is the best mate for the tool for power, weight, and balance I check what battery comes with the tool.

 

which was why i was previously buying the extremely-hard-to-find xc 3.0 and 6.0 m12's, and kept only to the m18 high output 6.0. what's most interesting to me is that with the new tool, the m12 6.0 is almost as useless as the m12 1.5, only with extended run times.

all my batteries are starting to get old, so i'll be watching for deals on the new m18 forge stuff, as well as on the m12 5.0's, i just found it interesting how drastic of a change the battery tech is. before that review, i was unaware that milwaukee had updated the m12 internals. i was aware of the forge designation for their new pouch cell layout, but had just assumed that the m12 5.0 'high output' was just a new marketing lingo alteration, not a re-engineering of the internals that would allow for a higher output.

 

Just pulled the trigger on this. Primarily for adding a little air in the truck tires during the winter months.

I've gotten tired of pulling out (and plugging in with an extension cord) my portable compressor (it's 12V too) to just top off the tires from time to time. It'll still stay in the tote I put in my truck for my outdoor adventures. I'll keep this new one right in my garage.

Solid deal on the compressor. A 2 pack of those batteries is $70+ alone. I have the M18 compressor but it's kinda big to haul around. I bought it before I had any M12 stuff or I'd have probably bought it instead.

 

I explored the M18 version but went with the M12 for precisely that reason. I don't air down and refill, so the M12 will be perfect for my needs. Plus I already have plenty of M12 and M18 batteries. I'll probably use the 3.0's that come with this for my drills and use a 6.0 or 5.0 with the inflator.

 

I've been switching to the new M12 HO 5.0's for my impact drivers. Much longer battery life compared to the older 6.0's.

 

I had no M12 stuff at all and wasn't planning on getting any until you S.O.B.'s in this thread posted a deal on a drill, driver, 3/8 ratchet kit. Now I'm in that rabbit hole too.
