Look up Rear Light Bar, he was in Shingle Springs, I'm not sure if he sold out or moved. I've been to his shop/house twice and had his light bar adjusted for my needs on my race car. Point being, you could get a custom 5 light bar with the light placement you want.

Funny you guys mention this topic, I am sick of breaking taillights too so I am planning to remove mine too. I made molds off of the OE tails and then I will use those to infill / shave my bedsides to eliminate them. I bought a BD RTL w/ turns & backup and that is going on the back of my caper shell roof rack as a chase light primarily and then I was going to use two of the 6" RTL-M's in my rear bumper to satisfy the two separate lights requirement. I use my truck a lot for " overlanding" so I want to keep my bed as open as possible so my spare, jack and cans are going to stay out the back bumper. Those little 6" RTL-M's can be mounted horizontally on the bumper which will have clear view below all of that sh*t. I'm building a new bumper that will be all tube, a little lighter and less bulky.

Like this, death lift jack is gone now so it will not interfere with that right tail :

Maybe not applicable to you guys keeping the stock bed but I just put commercial truck lights
I have them pretty protected but if I smash one, super easy and cheap to swap.
I don’t travel in groups often so no chase lights, but don’t see why you need to integrate the street going lights and off road lights.

I like those wheels so much. For my next set it's either going to be those or the 701s in raw silver

    Any tips?

    PSA this isn't my truck.

When you guys build bed cages, how far away should I build it from the cab? This one seems super close. My frame is boxed, but I'm worried about the flex, I really rather not have a massive dent from the bed cage in the back of my cab lol

I literally just did a spit take because it's true.
My bedsides are just over 2" from the cab and they hit the cab, granted during extreme usage. (best side picture I could find)

This is why a cage is the best mod. And it even goes to the tail light talk. Just cage it. 99% of your problems will be gone.

How is a cage going to solve the plastic tabs breaking off of tail lights ?

Yikes!! Some people just need to put down the power tools.

If you’re only gonna do a bed cage, might as well make it a bolt in cage.

I thought that's just where people go to diagnose hangnails and sprains as lupus and cancer.

A whole lot less being transferred through. Idk what else to say. But I too suffered from headlights and tail lights breaking. Then I did a cage. And now I don’t.

hmm i would actually assume the opposite ie: with a fully rigid structure the vibrations and impacts would actually be worse on stuff like that ?

Your body says quite the opposite. A whole lot less “feel” from each hit gets transferred to your body with a cage. I assume the same goes for the parts.

You would think but that’s not the case. It’s crazy how much better the suspension works when nothing else moves. The suspension sucks up all the vibes and impacts without transferring it to all those plastic parts.

I saw a facebook video of a guy saying if you are planning to seriously offroad a cage is the first thing to do. But in most cases people don't know they like it it until they have spent and sold thousands of dollars in parts to work their way up.
