Power is back on and sun is out. Now to clean up the downed branches. Thankfully no trees down.

That is a good reason to renew my Passport!

I'm getting too old to run the Baja 500 or provide service, but I still would love to go fishing and camping.

A Clean, Well-Lighted Place is all I need. I might be sitting in a camping chair by the beach, enjoying a novel.

Wow! Worst storm ever, yesterday. This is day two for power outage. Large area of no power, and we're right in the middle of it, and we're all-electric. We had the foresight to install a whole house generator last summer. It's running. We're grateful for the foresight and the funds needed. Next project is finding propane to keep it going... on a Saturday. We have more than enough for this go-around, though. Neighbor thought I was nuts, spending the bucks... WRONG! Now it's dark over there. The older we get, the less we want to deal with the stresses of living "out" like we do, so we compensate when/where we can. I get a warm fuzzy feeling when a plan comes together. Did I mention the ice fog?

    Morning all:

So far it sounds like it's good news for those on here who were affected by the hurricane, I'll take a minor inconvenience over heavy damage anytime, hopefully Jim has the same to report :fingerscrossed:!

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/Hurricane Heleners. We're far enough north that we aren't getting any direct effect, but the storm has been pushing rain over us for the entire week. We really needed it, but I'm ready to see some sun! I have a cousin on the western side of FL I haven't heard from, hoping for the best outcome for them.

We put a whole house unit in a couple of years ago. When we first moved in we did the "isn't this romantic" candles/toting water from the spring/sponge bath thing for quite a few years. We got tired of that finally and hooked up a 5KW gas unit, which needed manual intervention to connect/disconnect/fuel up and also didn't run the larger appliances such as oven and dryer. No big deal. But then we built a garage, and even with the garage breaker completely shut off that little 5K unit wasn't happy. So we went whole house. Ten days after it became operational we had a power outage! We love the thing.

Ours is propane as well. We have 200 gallons of propane available and that easily lasts for several days. We do try to minimize heavy electrical use during extended outages though.

:pccoffee: Good Morning and Hook 'Em Porch Pals & Sue! Cool mornings and clear hot days are all we get from the North winds funded by Helene. Hopeful that once things settle for folks in the path, everyone will be back safe and sound. Looks like we get a chance at a blob forming in the Caribbean for next week.

Speaking of Hook 'Em, can't say the Horns are getting much TV respect for their number 1 ranking. This week, were up from SEC+ (which I found on ESPN+) to just plain SEC Network. Fortunately, Hulu does carry it.

Good afternoon all. Crazy watching the reports from NC and TN. I was just there last weekend enjoying great weather and great motorcycling. Really sucks knowing just how many folks are losing everything in the blink of an eye.

When we moved in, I had a generlink installed. That, coupled with a HF generator, has been quite useful. Our power is out, but the generator is doing it's thing.

The wife heard a bang, and the power went out. Apparently a transformer blew. The power along this street is nonexistent. KUB says it should be back to normal by 10:30 tonight.
