Think they could make the journey here with a Forever stamp? I don't need any right now but a few of them can live forever in my parts drawer if you don't want them all to live forever in yours.

Got the 04 Civic back from having the transmission overhauled. New TQ, Clutches, solenoids, $4060. Reputable firm that must rebuild a dozen each week. Most of their work is GM trucks. I asked what type of fluid I should use and the owner said Dex 6. That's easy enough because I used Valvoline DEX/MERC 6 in the LC during the last change. It makes it simple if I can run the same fluid in all four automatics.

While we bought and used Honda transmission fluid over the years, I'm not sure that I bought into all of the secret Honda sauce business.

The LC transmission cooler must be working well. Most of the time the transmission fluid temp is 125f. Even through Colorado mountains the fluid stayed under 140f. Engine coolant temps run between 190 and 186.

I try to change ATF on a regular basis using a brand that I can afford. I got over the boutique fluids in the last century.

"Honda sauce" is a hotly debated topic (why wouldn't it be?). I was looking into MT fluid for my '05, half the internet says Honda sauce, half the internet says AC Delco Synchromesh fluid.

The strange thing is it drives better now (more like a normal automatic) with the upgraded TQ and clutches than it did when it was new. I always thought it drove like an Electrolux vacuum cleaner.

True story. The Civic was my mom's car that she bought new in 04. At about 25,000 miles she offered it to my daughter because she stopped driving. My daughter drove it for a couple of weeks and said she preferred driving her old 1999 Infiniti I30 with 230,000 miles because it had more pickup and a better stereo. If I could find a nice one I would grab it. One of the best cars ever made by Nissan. It was called a Cefiro outside of the US. Though parts are getting scarce now.

I see yours doesn’t make a very good guard dog too. Hunter will bark at someone new when they come over then immediately flip on his back for belly rubs
