I had looked at that one a lot too, between it and the Woodward

Seeing the things people make online with either just tells me I'll be the limiting factor when it comes to bending cool shit; definitely alright with that

That's the one you used for the bumper you just finished? Yeah def seems worth it. I plan on using mine to modify my current bed rack but have the intentions of building aussie style push bars that run the length of the truck that integrates the front and rear bumpers.

Something similar to this but front and rear:

Though I know that will need a tube roller to accomplish.

I appreciate it, still learning but I feel great about the work Ive done.

In my mostly uneducated opinion the bender shouldnt matter that much as long as it doesnt mangle the tube. Most of the magic happens in the tube layout, placing bends, and doing the notches so everything fits well.

    Quick question

I see it's recommended to make a few bends out of scrap and keep them to use as a reference for bending other projects

With that said, have you found any tube (of the same size and thickness) giving you more or less underbend compared to your sample pieces?

I don't plan to buy steel from different sources but in case I bought some online vs in person or if someone brought me their own tube

Yes sir, Ive never used another bender but I have a friend with a JD2 bender and they yield very very similar results other than the clear differences of the Affordable (90 MAX, big CLR) also aluminum dies are less durable but hasnt caused any issues

I got it mostly so I can toss it under a bench and forget about it until I need bent tube. But I enjoy working with tube too much so I always use it so I built a nice stand for it. Wont get anything else until it breaks more than likely.

The work ive done with this thing.

Yes, I wouldnt be able to do much without a few cheaters layin around.

I havent noticed any difference bending that I could nail down to the tube, most of my variation between bends I think comes from the zero I set while bending(I need a better setup for this, I just use a digital angle finder now). I also have only bought probably 200 ft of tube so there's not that many different pieces I have used

Most of the time I go for +-0.5 deg

I was impressed with it until I looked closer and he just butt welded different bent sections. I dont even think he sleeved it.

Getting 4 bends all on the same exact plane is a difficult task. Nevermind accurately on different planes

I have not a lot of tube work, but any variation is more likely user error on my part rather than the material differences, if it its a new size or type of tube just bend a short piece and make a note of the spring back. IF I can get decent bends on my first project I know you will too.

    Same.

I've been using one for around 15 years (build around 100 bumpers and multiple roll cages)

Ooo I like your cart setup for it. If your bending out of plane does it ever get tippy?

I typically bend on the same plane for all my stuff but I'm sure it would be fine considering I built it from 1/4" x 2" square tube. It's super stable rolling around my shop even with a tube in the die.

Was tired of going into the house every time I needed a bandaid or first aid items. I spend enough time in my shop that I figured it was time to get some safety equipment. Picked up a full cabinet, then proceeded to put the appropriate signage on it...

Easier said than done. It really is an odds game. The more time I spend in the shop, the more likely injuries are to happen. Nothing major, small cuts etc.

Bottom line, I'd rather have it and not need it than the other way around.

First thing I do when I go to the garage is put on my eyepro and gloves; metal splinters are the worst

Everyone knows this is a real first aid kit...

Wrap a paper towel around the cut an electrical tape to hold it in place. Red tape preferred, helps hide the blood, from safety
