I am looking to get some 285/70 17's for the truck (after the 3" of course) and have pretty much narrowed it down to these two, BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO's or Firestone Destination A/T's. I like the ratings I've seen on the Firestone and like the aggressive look of the BFG's (which has pretty good ratings too)

Anybody have any input on these tires or any others? I would love to get M/T's but I don't off-road that much so I can't justify it.

I like the aggressive look of BFG's.... i was going to go with them, and the guy showed me these coopers today so i got those.....

I do go offroad either, but i liked the look too much to pass 'em up

i think i actually have seen those cooper tires around before, and yes they look damn good for the price and especially since i dont go offroad much either....so do you have a leveling kit or an actual 3" lift? i was going to run 31" tires with a different offset on the wheels to widen the stance, but i'm not sure about the fenders rubbing until i get them rolled out and widened. do the 33"s rub at all?

I've got the destination A/T's and for the price, I would buy them again.
They're holding up well, look good, and perform well both on and off road.

I am new to this stuff, Not sure exactly what a leveling kit is! To the best of my knowlege it is an actaul 3" lift..... Toytec kit..... I put in these spacers.......

That's an actual lift. It's a spacer lift. A leveling kit would just bring up the front to level it with the rear (stock the truck sits higher in the rear)

the only difference is whatever u use to lift the rear the extra few inches. since i got the tsb done and the rear is up another 1" or so, after i add my leveling kit, the rear should still be about an inch higher than the front

the kit i was looking at is made by procomp, its the spacer on the front and an add-a-leaf spring pair in the back. it said it's supposed to lift and level 3" but it's only 160 bucks on ebay so i figured i'd give it a shot, procomp makes good stuff as far as i know

Yeah, I saw your post the other day when you first put them on. They look pretty sweet! Do you get any road noise from them?

Could I avoid trimming with a spacer?

So the TSB applies to the 07's? Do you know if it's for certain production dates?

the tsb has vin's associated with it. not necessarily production dates. people have said that they've seen 08's w/ 3 leafs...so who knows. if u look under urs and u only have 3 total leafs (upper and lower), then u should be a candidate for the new 4 pack

not to sure about the spacer justin. but it will make your wheel stick out more. you can run a 265/70/17 which is a little more than an inch smaller in diameter. lots of choices in that size also

Can someone post a pic after they installed the AAL??

I am not 100% clear on where it goes, and I am putting it on in the morning

Do you know if there are certain part #'s to look for on the existing leafs?

Considering I have the stock 265/65 17's and I am adding a 3" lift, it would be a waste to only go up to 265/70's. I'd be better off staying at stock height and stock rubber.

I believe it gets installed at the bottom of your existing leaf pack with the long end to the rear. Unless you have an overload spring, then it would be installed between that and the others.

    This is now....

(and yes you are right, the instructions said long end toward the rear, the problem is I do not know the correct terminology, so it is hard to follow the instructions!)

I know this is a dumb question, but how do i know if i have an "overload" spring? is it the one that bolts on to a part of the frame next to the rear tire??

it will be the shorter of the 3 leafs. i believe the aal is installed between the top 2 leafs and the overload spring

well the 265/70's would give u an extra inch....u can get a set of terra grapplers in 265/70's for 504 shipped....i'm thinking about those or a 255/75...and i've never looked on the springs for a part number, but just look in ur rear fenderwell and count the springs...u should have 3 and that'll allow u to get the tsb done

Unfortunately I don't have the experience of installing one myself yet since I am stuck on this sh*thole deployment for another two months. But the overload spring should almost be bowed in the opposite direction of the other two (almost straight) and alot shorter. Sorry I can't help you out more. Let us know how it goes.

Sorry, I didn't take the time to do the math. Just figured it wouldn't be that noticable of a difference. Unfortunately I gotta tack on an extra sh*tload for shipping to Alaska. Thanks for the info on the TSB.
