All this time, I didn’t realize yours was 2wd… they make some killer spindle lifts with long-travel setups for 2wd trucks. Trophy truck builds are badass!

Any plans for lift?

 

I just looked up that build, I'm def open to exploring that option. Was planning on going 2 inch with 5100s whenever I have to replace my shocks and springs

 

Yea, most of the 4wd guys say 2” as well… but only because of the CV angles. But you’re lucky, no CV’s. You can do whatever you want basically. I’d have bought a 2wd if it weren’t for the winter months.

 

A 4” spindle lift on a 2WD is the way to go!


Have not had a chance to get the rack on today. It’s ready to go on but either I’ve been busy or wife has been.

I was going to try to “winch” it above my truck then drive under it but all I have is twine and it’s not strong enough… already tested it

 

Ohhh yeah, let my son drive my truck around a parking lot. He had fun!

 

With 200 lbs in the back, it actually impressed me. Winters here never had a problem. Last winter in WY was supposedly a light one, but it struggled a few times. Fun fact: they don't salt the roads there, just constant plowing!

 

Damn, really thought today was the day! Wouldn't 4 inch affect performance??

The only thing that would affect performance negatively would be how big of a tire and how aggressive the tread pattern. Weight of the tire would affect acceleration as well. But suspension won’t affect anything other than taking turns above 100 mph. lol! Doubt you do much of that. 4” long travel with Fox Floats would be incredible… bet it’d ride like a Cadillac!!

I'm axtually going to look into that, but having to get bigger tires so it doesn't look like it skips leg day may be what makes it just a fantasy

 

Personally, I wouldn’t do 35’s even with a v6. I’d do a 33… I’m running 33’s (actually 32.5ish) and I wish I had 1 extra inch. But then again, don’t we all!!

 

I just put my 33’s on and I wish I had gone up one size too!

I was too worried about it because the 33” mud tires I used to run absolutely killed my acceleration and braking.

I assumed all terrains would be the same but they are not and I definitely could have gone a bit bigger and still had decent driving manners from the truck.

 

Oh, for sure… mud tires are definitely a bad option… that is if you’re not an avid wheeler. I’ve seen aggressive AT’s perform just as well as a MT. I don’t off-road it like others, so I went with the Cooper ATS XLT’s. I like the tread for whatever I’m going to throw at it, mostly farm roads and green trails. But an extra inch of lift would be great for just a slight bit of clearance.

 

Agreed. I suspect I’ll be sticking with the all terrains from here on out. Probably.
