Utility power back on yesterday afternoon, while we were out. Generator performed well. Glad to have it. Now I have a good idea how much propane it will use for a given amount of time. It really didn't use as much as I thought it might. It's around 30%. I'll get it filled up. Propane ages well, and it's storm season. I've already started post-storm cleanup, and checking the house for any damage. So far, so good. Hope everyone in the path is ok. More storms predicted. Safe travels, friends.

    Good morning all!
I just read the Komando daily update on AI Superintelligence…SCARY stuff! It should go well for Gen Zers since 6 out of 10 get fired from their jobs within 6 months. Sad future IMO. Oh well, I likely won’t be around. A good thing.

UGH! Back to 90* today! I’ll be outside early piddling around, then likely in the man cave during the heat. Lots of fun projects I can work on! Have a great day everyone! It’s all up to you!

I don’t understand the GEN whatever’s , they think food comes from the grocery store, and don’t respect history.

    Morning all:

Totally agree, I'm sure some good will come out of AI, but the negatives will eventually outweigh them, the genie is out of the bottle and the world is going to have to live with the consequences!

Happy Sunday all. AI is scary, I believe it may eventually spell doom for man. If you want a real insight into where AI eventually evolves to watch the old movie (a great movie) 2001 A Space Odyssey. Most don’t realize it but one of the main themes was the dangers of AI. I think it was before AI was even a word. The movie was far ahead of its time. Hal 9000 was the AI computer that ran all aspects of the interplanetary space ship. It was supposed to be infallible, incapable of making a mistake. It talked and had human like feelings and emotions. Well it made an error and some crew members died as a result. Hal knew if his mistake was discovered he would be terminated. The remaining astronaut discovered Hal’s mistake. A large part of the movie was the human survivor trying to stop and shut down , dismantle Hal and Hal trying to kill the man. Hal had a survival instinct built in. Great movie. Think I’ll watch it again tonight.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/storm survivors. My cousin managed to avoid damage from Helene on the FL west coast, but only because they recently returned from RVing around the country and haven't settled back into a house yet. They drove their rigs (they have a boat too) 30 miles inland and just got really wet. Their friends on the coast had 5 feet of salt water in their living room!

I know, it's really bad. I really feel for the folks in the Asheville region. I'm planning a drive through that area next week and will probably need to make some adjustments to my route.

Glad to hear that you survived okay, and that the generator did its job.

Lol, I used to have audio clips on my PC from that movie. I don't mean to make light of the threat posed by out-of-control AI, but having the name that I have...

I think I mentioned it before, another "old movie", "failsafe", was about the perils of AI.
Sci Fi movies somehow seem to predict the future as they slowly become reality.

A lot of us do not respect history. It is not just the younger crowd.

Good Sunday evening. Time to get back to a few days of normal before this next weekend's get-a-way.
