We've got one of those Sleep Number beds which, accurate or not, rate your sleep with a number. My average is in the low 60s over the last few years, but recently it's lower. Lots of restless sleep. My pillows also seem to always go flat after a short while, no matter how much i paid for them, or how much I fluff them. I used to love to sleep on mt back. Can't do anymore. Too much stiffness and pain. So now it's side sleeping but my shoulders are broad and a flat pillow causes the old arthritic neck to crick. No good.

    I agree.

During the school year I wake up at 430 with my brain cycling through the plans and contingency plans for the day. I’m tired, but I can’t get to sleep. The day is stressful… Repeat the process…

It only takes a few hours of being alone at our hunting cabin to just start existing in the moment.

Winter is the best. I’ll spend the whole day splitting wood and shooting at our steel gongs. Hunting a little, mostly for the hike. Reading in my sleeping bag as the lantern fades and the fire burns out.

Kind of like a scene from a Jack London story.

It’s always hard to pack up and leave. I often think about just retiring and living that life all the time.

    Looking good Andy

After buying a closet full of pillows, I got a MyPillow. Folks either love them or hate them. I love mine. They make different fill levels and I got the one that "fits" me and no more neck pain. My neck hurt for years (yes, I have arthritis) until I got the pillow. Good luck finding one that works for you.

Problem with that is it becomes the everyday slog that you no longer enjoy.

What i have done is take a month doing the fun thing, you enjoy it and you still don't want to leave.

But it becomes something to look forward to.

    You know...like Monkey Mountain.

Morning Chuck :hattip:drove the Ford Focus to the transmission shop yesterday, talked about pucker factor. It went into neutral all by itself, dashboard is lit up like a Christmas tree. $60 bucks to diagnose it, they call it the “Devil Transmission. 148,000. Miles, transmission has failed 3 times, probably going to the scrap yard.

Good morning everybody! After chores I need to go back to painting but I’m thinking about playing hooky today and riding to the farmers market. The dogs are out of sweet potatoes I normally get them 4 boxes at a time.
