I was uncertain with what undercoating to use. I did notice the new WD40 product but leaned towards products that have been around a while. Cost and availability on those products were a consideration. Hamazon was the main place of purchase. Being that we don't get hit with the salt as bad as the rust belt I decided on the cosmoline type undercoating. Leaves a waxy type surface when dried. Hopefully it lasts a long time. Didn't really want the more runny Fluid film. However, I did by one can of Rust Cure Formula 3000 from Canadian Tire to spray the chain and lifting mechanism for the spare tire. It was cheaper that Hamazon. Not sure I wanted wax type rust inhibitor for those moving parts. The Rust Cure is more Fluid Film like.

With everything looking pretty good under there, a damp pre-clean, prepping and covering existing surface rust with Tremclad rust inhibitor, then the CRC, it's like a having a mint undercarriage again. Now with the benefit of enhanced rust resistance. I have piece of mind on those sloppy, salty road days where I don't have to worry where all that salt is getting into. I will still take it through the touch-less car wash and pay and spray to help keep the salt down in the middle of winter tho. Out your way the valley does get hit a little harder.

I will really have to monitor long term results as this is surface only. Not removing plugs and getting into spraying all voids like they do in the rust belt. This is more like lipstick.

Be interesting to see how it all held up with salt spray when driving this winter.

Not sure if there are even any companies around us that offer this service. Does not seem common around here. This is all new to me. Bit of an experiment as I'm learning as I go. I think it's worth it if you plan to keep your truck long term. I didn't want to kick myself after 10 years thinking I should have done this sooner or even better when the truck was brand new. At least I have a baseline now of 4 years moving forward.

Hey all! Been a minute (a year maybe) since I've been on due to work and life. Hope everyone is well. Knock on wood.....(knock, knock) my Taco has been very good to me and been very reliable with all the mods. I noted a little squeak recently that I'll get to work on from the UCA and maybe LCA (both total chaos) but that's to be expected with the annual greasing requirement (just need to use a breaker bar to loosen up that UCA bolt!!).
Update is the new shoes with the KO3s at factory size for the pro. 265/75/16 I believe. These are e rated it looks like too. So far so good.
ps. lesson learned for me was that I totally forgot to get a second alignment after installing the UCA/LCA spring setup 3 months after and after settling my alignment was way off (the inside of my tires were worn down fast). Here is a pic of my Nitto's after 34k miles.

Is the fitting on the oil cap a swivel? Or is just a pain in the ass to get oil cap off?

I have used Woolwax the last couple of years and that stuff goes on pretty thick. I ended up skipping a year with no touch up and it's still a nice thick coat. Given, I don't really drive too much in the rain or snow though.

Yes, but he asked if it swiveled. If not, twisting that hose would be a PITA.

Why are you twisting the hose? You unthread it before you remove the cap.

Yep, lots of good products out there. Made it hard to decide. Mine is a daily driver. We get lots of rain at times then the intermittent snow, ice and salt. Hopefully this stuff is a little more permanent so I can skip a year or three.

This can be a typical day commuting in the winter for me.

Ok, it swivels but it’s easier to just unthread it.
