I'll preface by saying, I don't have expendable cash to buy either one, I just love how they look

But having read the forums about them, it goes inline with what you're saying - 5% of the issues are engine-related, and 95% is everything else

But it seems the V8 vs V12 group is as real as say, 1st Gen Taco vs 3rd Gen Taco groups here

Strip it and drop in an LQ9 and 4L80 and I bet it would be fantastic. 80s looks, American muscle.

Oooh that'd be a sick combo for sure

My C4 runs a 4L80 and it shifts fucking hard (in a good way)

I think I just like the 8 series bimmer's the way I like my buddy's LS400; meant to be a smooth running V8 that you can enjoy on a Sunday drive

Must be the old man in me now

Yeah I had a 94 Explorer when I was younger, the last year that they were boxy, then they rounded all the corners inside and out.

It's less Tacoma and more mod
The V12 with a 6 speed is a fun driver, don't think I'd bother with the V8, they're meh even for the time and if you really wanted one it comes in nicer cars, 7 series and 5 series

Get an XJ12 instead, super cheap V12 and I've heard they're totally reliable and not at all expensive to keep running

I'll keep rocking my old man GX as my daily

It's slow but at least has a smooth little rumble

I keep looking at one of these to replace the Nissan. Prices are surprisingly affordable especially compared to 4Runners. Just need to find some that aren’t molested.

I'd expect to find a lot of them in stock form; old people usually owned them.

I just replaced the wipers yesterday and found them to have the Lexus logo on them; the guy did go through a Lexus dealer for everything but I didn't expect the wipers to be from there as well

Yeah there’s a few around here that people started doing over landing stuff with and then…gave up.

This one looks interesting, though not excited about white paint issues

Nobody associates old man tan and raccoon cult, so I’m good with it.

I bought one like this for my wife in 94. I got it when she got a new car. I put 150,000 miles on it without much issue. it seemed like it needed heads resurfaced and a transmission. Not a bad vehicle at the time.

My mom had one of these while I was growing up. All I can remember about it is the time a wheel fell off, and it constantly needing the power steering fluid topped off lol

When I was about 16yo I worked at a dealership that had one of these on the lot for sale. I was tasked with driving it to the upholstery shop or a British car dealer named Continental Cars. It had a V12 as I recall, I never liked driving it. Something about it didn't feel right or comfortable.

    upload_2024-10-1_13-17-43.png

Then one day a year later, I got to drive a 3000 csi. I never was quite the same after that day. It fit like a glove and handled like a dream.

    Something about those older bimmer's

My co-worker, right after high-school, had a 318i and I loved driving that thing whenever we'd switch cars

That and my dad had one when I was growing up as well; he won that thing in a poker game
