Regarding my walking stick…sit back, let me tell you a (melodramatic) story….It started out as a seed, an
Avocado seed, that I planted with great care and love. Over the course of 15 years, I took care of it, and watched it grow. It spent time outdoors in summer where it gained strength in the sun, soaked in the rain, and hardened in the wind. It never bore fruit, despite attempts to graft onto it shoots from bearing trees. One day, its job was done and its spirit joined the winds. Then, I lovingly hacked it to pieces, and I kept the trunk as testimony to its existence.

I also kept it because I knew it had not yet fulfilled it’s purpose, which remained a mystery until recently. Its purpose was not bearing fruit…alas, it was to bear me in my infirmity.

TL/DR: A 15 year old potted avocado plant weighs a freakin ton, and I got sick of hauling it in and out of the house every year. So one year, I “forgot” to bring it inside for the winter. The trunk had obvious walking stick potential so I kept it around. Last week I finally decided to take a grinder to it and rough it out. And I sanded it down real nice because I needed something to do because I was going crazy not being able to move around lol

 

It seems like we usually wound up in some of the sites that are on the right after that picnic area. I am not picky. But, I will need space to put the pop-up and Tim is also hauling his camper. Depending on the situation we can grab another site when we get there if needed also. But, if you and Dan get a couple of decent ones, we can probably all squeeze in

 

A site with sun access for my solar would be cool.

Go look at Horse Shoe Lake. Just called the FS-some asshat in admin decided that Oct 1 was a good time to close the CG for one month. Apple fest weekend?
