Calamity tacos build thread that was for a tacoma but now is for a ford! crazy times we are in!

well they sent me a quote and they low balled heavily... with all the stuff either bent or broken behind the grill and the bumper being bent plus the stuff more obviously broken they are being generous to give me 1800 bucks... so i have a feeling this is going to be fun!

they even closed my claim until i called getting annoyed at them for closing it when i didnt accept this bs offer... i still have my appointments after work but they are now trying to claim they wont listen to those quotes even thou im making sure i get all parts broken listed and how much each cost how much paint work costs and so on...

thats what i hope for as well... ive always had good luck when working with my insurance companies but that was before i was with the company im with now....

 

Honestly, if they are already doing that, I'd prepare for a fight. Either brace for lawyer fees to get it done or think about contacting your State AG to file a complaint. Research the law to see if they've fucked up by trying to close the claim without your agreement on the offer. Start reading all the insurance paperwork you have access to for them.

 

it sounds like it will be a fight tbh... thankfully for the lawyer part i have one with my work insurance that will help with anything i need and i dont have to pay for it well i mean i do but i dont lol.

also they did reopen the claim after i called them out on it but unsure why they would close it when i didnt accept anything..

 

Shady tactic. If you're not willing to push back and you'll eat the low offer because it's "closed" then they don't have to pay as much. It's just a scumbag move.

Definitely run it by the lawyer then. If you aren't paying extra for it, definitely capitalize on that resource.

 

Went to the ford dealer and with having some things not be Ford parts and having a few things being unsure until the truck is torn down the estimate was 6600 waaaay off from my insurance company so currently talking to my company and have talked with the dealers collision team lead for my insurance company and he is setting a time to have it estimated again with a rep to show them how damaged the truck actually is.

 

Buy him a 12 pack and tell him to give them a price for Ford parts. At this point they tried to screw you, I'd push hard for genuine parts.

 

That's the plan at the appointment but ATM it's gonna be a week before the truck can be seen so fun times!

 

Oof. That's a bummer. You going to get an aftermarket grille or bumper for it? Upgrade the headlights? You know you can't leave anything stock anyway.

 

That depends on how things go tbh. I'm unsure if they will allow me to change things or allow me to take a check now and do it my self.

They cannot require you to make repairs of any kind. They have to cut you a check either way. You can roll with it broken as is, or you can use that check to buy stuff to fix it. Entirely up to you.

Went to get 3 yards of dirt and the dude miscounted and said he gave us 5-6 yards of dirt... So we are a bit over the towing capacity of the truck... I need to get some bricks to start the retaining wall but the damn trailer is now stuck on the ball and won't come off so fun times lol

 

Just pull the pin and let it come outta the receiver. Done that before

make sure the trailer is chocked first though lol
