That would be tough for me, we don't have sheet metal machines and if I welded a band around a plate it would warp, bad

 

Talked to a friend of mine at church last night, his mom and grandma live in Avery county. They are isolated due to roads being washed out and are only getting things brought to them by helicopter


He grew up there, said the barn at his moms house he had seen water around 4' in it before, the barn is now gone.

 

We have had choppers flying in and out they are volenteer and military. Lots of small aircraft flying around. Apparently the Pres. Was in the area yesterday on Marine One. I haven't heard too much more about looting but in the River Arts District in AVL you have to show I'd and be able to give a direct address to where you're going.

 

People must be in shock…

Had a random tree fall must got damaged in the storm , crushed the old chicken coop I moved to give away but now the dump has it

We just found out my wife’s aunt is good to go in union mills. We were mid plan for a cannonball run to there place.

 

That's great news on your Aunt union mills is very close to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock. It's been touch and go for about a week.
Just heard there's 72 dead in Buncombe County now so sad.

 

Well fellers, that was a stroke of work - about 4 hours worth of up & down the ladder and floor.



The back door to the garage was broken when I moved in years ago, it is an old 8 x 8 wooden job that weighs 175 pounds. (I weighed it to buy the springs)

New springs, cables & rollers .

I could open it with a pile of effort using 2 come-a-longs. The old single spring was massive.



Now I can use this thumper of an air compressor that sits in front of said door.



I couldn't run it before - being gas power (Kohler K Series) it needs cooling air - and then there is that business of filling the garage with carbon monoxide too...

 

It is and there will be months if not years to rebuild. It will be a marathon .
