G4 Tacoma Bed Step

Does the bed step for the G4 (PT392-35920) mount only on the driver or passenger or either side?

 

Exhaust is on driver now.

Might shop around. The OEM step is seriously expensive for what it is.

 

I have the OEM bed step and love it, it's lower profile compared to the G3. Mounts on the passenger side.

 

G4 moves to passenger side. Loved it on my ‘22 and just added to my ‘24 yesterday. G4 is slightly more narrow in width than G3 and tucks in what I perceive as an inch tighter than G3.

 

Ugh, my dealer says it’s back ordered and will be 6ish weeks

(You might try the link above to check the current availability.) These new 4th gen steps are made in the US by AMP, and they have a much more compact attachment bracket than previous designs. So the leverage is less, and therefore should be stronger.

If it's something you can wait on, you can stack the holiday discount (black Friday, etc) along with the basic discount online from somewhere like Fred Anderson Toyota parts department. It will be about 40% off then.

When I did an online order on an out of stock item they just ordered it and shipped it when it came in.

Me too. I call it my "old-man" step. But it really is handy, and I use one on my 2nd gen '12 TRD OR work truck all the time.

 

I only hated my bougie self cause I just had to have the oem one and it’s a stupidly high price. But with my bad knees and back I def need one

 

When I bought a step for my 2nd gen, the aftermarket one was only $63. What a difference instead of $300.

 

That’s why I wait for aftermarket to catch up.

this is the cheapest one i found on ebay. they all use the same pictures - probably all from the same chinese manufacturer. i might just go for it and be the guinea pig:
