how is it? And what’s your wheel size/gear/other combo that is pertinent?

debating on doing the maggy with OTT (since I’m already tuned by them but naturally aspirated). Still trying to fight myself regarding the cost..
    I’m on 35s, 4.88’s and OTT tuned.

All is good till I load this puppy up for camping, and I wish I had more power for the hills

5.29 gears would be less expensive and very effective.

    for 700rpm more? Prolly not

edit: when I did the 4.88’s, prolly 6 years ago or whenever it came out - 5.29 wasn’t even an option then. I would’ve if I could’ve. Trust me

It’s great, had a custom tune initially since I bought my kit used. Did a few runs in the dyno, but was not happy with it. OTT is great with my setup. Great dyno and immediately felt the noticeable difference compared to my first tune. Power curve is very linear and aggressive. I also removed the restrictor valve.

    - 4.88 Yukons
    - 33’s
    - loaded with a bit of weight

OTT you can’t go wrong. plus, they are working on carb legal for their tune soon.

Appreciate the honest response! Do you have any numbers since you were on the dyno?

Thank you for your service, stay safe out there, brother

    thanks!

Dyno only on my first tune. But as you can see from the first chart, it was a bit bouncy.
    IMG_3192.jpg

Changed to 1 step colder ngk and retuned to OTT 90mm pulley tune. Not my dyno, but this was off a stock Tacoma with the maggy.

yeah something’s definitely up with that first tune.
I'm not doubting OTT’s tune, but damn that’s an absurd amount of power difference!
Do you feel like you’ve gained that much more?

Hard to say without a dyno. But definitely was a huge improvement. First tuned, I wasn’t impressed at all. Very underwhelmed with the maggy. New tune, totally different truck. Fell in love with it.

    I get that.
Prior to my 3rd Gen I had a 1st Gen. Found a BNIB TRD blacktop supercharger local to me and bought it. With all the excitement and raves people had about it, I couldn’t wait to drive it! Took it for a spin and holy shit was i disappointed….wasn’t until i ponied up the extra $ and bought the URD 7th injector kit.
That truck became a completely different animal.

So i definitely get what you’re saying.

Once again i appreciate the insight. Hard to find maggy owners here in Hawaii. I gotta pick peoples brains when I can haha

    5.29s + OTT 265/75/16s
I think on Monday I’m going to finally pull the trigger on this kit. Will likely order from R4T and have them do the install, if anyone has any experience with them I’d love to hear about it!

I’ve been on the fence about getting a supercharger for a while. I’ve got a 2019 TRD Pro AT running 5.29s, 265/74/16s, and the NA OTT.

5.29s alone were so underwhelming to me. I actually kind of regretted doing it until getting the OTT tune. Before OTT, I could feel some added lower end torque, but shifting was still wild and inefficient. OTT made me love driving the truck again (except for mountain passes). The other Colorado and mountain region Magnuson users in this thread have helped me see the light lol! I’m hoping the that the SC+5.29s+OTT will be just as impressive as when I did the NA OTT with 5.29s.

@JustDSM is there typically any discount for NA OTT users who switch over to the SC tune? Likely varies by your installer, but haven’t heard from my guy over the last week.

    Pic for fun

buy the smaller 87mm pulley and just go straight to that when you have it all installed.

Sorry for the diversion, curious why you went to 5:29 with a stock tire size…..and not feel a difference?

When I switched to 255/85/16 it was very obvious that took a hit and seems like 5:29s would help things….and %100 for 35s…..no?

Probably because the truck tune was still stock, so it flew thru the shifting on 5.29s and still had the stock hunting gear problem.

Gotcha.....pretty sure that mine was tuned before because I was considering getting rid of it because of that.
I still would thought that the lower ratio would have adjusted for the anemic transmission gearing......even with the tune when it goes into 4th you can feel the power just fall off (obviously tune doesn't change the gearing!).

My tuner put the magnuson on his and said it's amazing.....I might have to go check it out!

Went with 5.29s because of reports on the 5.29 megathread about them not being overkill for stock tires. I had plans to do a lift, bumpers and 33s, but decided against it for my daily. Will still fully build it out someday when I have another car for daily driving. I would have probably been just as happy with 4.88s in the mean time, but didn’t want to have to redo it in the future.

Yeah exactly, I could feel the truck had different torque and driving characteristics, but was still shifting in a really annoying way and the stock tune limiting the truck. The OTT is really necessary to fully enable the gears.

Yes you do get a discount with OTT. My set up is the same with exception to 4.88 gears. Im happy with the 90mm pulley but I'm trying to find the middle ground with reliability and performance.

Nice, thanks for the info on OTT @auskip07 . I’m thinking the same thing as you with the pulley, but I’ll have to see how the 90mm does at elevation.

So when installing the 87mm pulley, you don't need a new belt?
