How has that first one still not sold at 5500?? I guess 100 series values weren’t as high as I thought..

At face value that second is the go. Someone actually put a reasonable price on a sub 150K mile 100.
*I'd save up some coin if I were you so you can comfortably get into the teens on one, opens the world up. (Or, again, consider a GX)

Paying in the teens for one doesn’t seem like the greatest idea of even ones in the 5-8k range aren’t selling. I just found this one and messaged the seller to confirm they still have it. It’s a pretty solid 01 that hasn’t sold in a whole year! These are easy 500k mile vehicles of the basic maintenance is kept up, so it doesn’t seem worth paying a premium for one under 150k.

Tacomas, like the one you have, are also, "500K mile vehicles, if the basic maintenance is kept up." According to the internet.
There are more things that need to be maintained than just an engine for a 20+ year old vehicle to remain happy.
Come to think of it, I think you should buy that 98.

Why do you say I should buy it? Everyone else has been pillorying me for merely contemplating it.

I was being facetious but you could also look at it as a good learning experiment in expectation versus actuality / fantasy versus reality. Either way, I'm tapped out sir. I do wish you all the best on your Land Cruisering endeavors.

I'm pretty sure someone else and I told you that months ago.

But, you never listen because you know everything :burp:

(Those were all CA listings by the way, where everything is supposedly more expensive)

The sleeping giant. Once some aftermarket products become available to transform these into wheeling rigs, they can really become the next BIG thing.

I've found that everything for sale in NWA is more expensive because. The (scarcity of good condition + a bunch of rich people) = abnormally high prices.

But who am I to talk, I bought an overpriced 100 in NWA because I needed one that was drivable in a hurry to have one to support Toyota Club Activities.

I think there are already a few Sequoia overland and long travel builds out there. It uses the same diffs as a Tacoma so lockers are solved for, seems like the only thing holding a person back is the lack of EAF/gram points?

You bought one on short notice, knowing it was on short notice. You knew that going in. You also work on your own vehicles though.

The difference here is impulse, and overpaying because of it.

You know him better than most the rest of us, but man everyone keeps showing the dude evidence against many of his claims and he shines it off because he thinks he knows better.

Like James said, he'll get that 100 series and it'll break down on the way to Idaho and the rest of us will be like "we told you so"

If the goal is to break down on the way to Idaho, might as well rent a U-Haul with a trailer and use the money saved for some nice hotel rooms.

Well shit it's good that it's not a "have to do" sort of thing.

When I was going out every other weekend, I'd mostly go alone cause my brother's girlfriend wouldn't want him coming along with me if she wasn't with him :bananadead:

They're long broken up now (fortunately)

I'd trust it over the Tacoma if I can get the tire thing figured out. The truck body style just doesn't work for me.
