Is there nobody regulating how many satellites Musk can launch? Them things are gonna come crashing down someday. Probably on my house

As I understand it, he has hundreds of 'em in low earth orbit.
They're small and relatively cheap, as such things go.

Putting a satellite in low earth orbit is also very much cheaper to do.
Because they're in low earth orbit, the orbit decays after a few years and they come down.
This is a feature, not a bug.
Things are getting crowded further up, and space junk is getting to be a problem.

They come down all the time, but due to their small size, they burn up completely.
They get replaced with newer and probably even cheaper and lighter ones.

Sanford And Son needs to expand to the space junk bidness. Or get Rey Skywalker to scavenge that stuff. We don’t need a collision with one of them nuclear or laser armed satellites. We gettin’ into some real Star Wars stuff

One very, very huge advantage to low earth orbit satellites intended for Internet traffic, is the physical distance from earth to satellite back to earth is horrendously slow for satellites in traditional orbit. So to so much closer to earth, the internet traffic will have a much shorter delay and will be very noticable to the consumer.

 

Friday! BILIL is at my house now trying to figure out where Uber will take us when I get off at 3. Then the wives are supposed to pick us up and take us to get dinner (his idea, NOT wife approved at this point)

We were texting about it last night and then suddenly Uber sends me a note that I have a balance from a gift card - Coincidence???
