I have a TJ on 33's. The perfect summer rig for around the area with the top off. I don't drive it in the winter, not worth watching it rust.
Personally, I wouldn't buy anything newer, and never for a DD.

I have a 2013 Wrangler Unlimited. Genuinely an awful car lmao, 115k miles and nothing but trouble the entire way. Lifters, thermostat, ac issues, electrical issues, and its rusting faster than id expect it to. The 3.6 is kinda gutless and the old 5 speed is annoying to work with. Im trying to think of some good sides to it but I honestly just cant. If you like em you like em, I guess im just more of a taco guy though.

I had a CJ back around 1990, loved it even though it was a 4-banger. Bought it for then wife, she had someone else's baby, and I got the Jeep in the divorce. Cali life with the top down, doors off, bikini top during summer to keep my pelon from burning. Fold the passenger seat down and load up the 6'8" surfboard fine. No serious rock hoppin or anything, just weekends up in the mountains, shotgun fits fine in the back seat. Don't recall it ever leaving me anywhere, rode my motorcycle if I needed to take it in for maintenance.
ALMOST bought a Jeep-truck before driving the Taco.

I'm thinking if Jeep is going to survive as a brand no matter who the patent company is. Jeep will have to offer a IFS version of the Wrangler. I know the Cherokee and GC already exist, but those aren't top off funmobiles like the Wrangler. Jeep can't get rid of the SFA Wrangler, they are going to need a Wrangler body that can go on an IFS or SFA chassis.
