    Hi,
I just picked up a 21 Tacoma SR and am wanting to add a trailer hitch. It seems to have the wiring harness ready to connect the electrics directly but having trouble finding the right connection. Any advice?

That’s the harness for the rear sensors. You have to wire in a 4 pin or 7 using a kit. the Curt hitches seem to be the best for the price point. I didn’t realize mine didn’t have a hitch until I got home or else I would have just passed on the truck entirely. All the little things that it doesn’t have or does weird have been eating away at me.

My mind was blown when I found out you could get a Taco WITHOUT a hitch.

wow, so the guy at the dealership was wrong. He told me that was the hookup for the trailer hitch.
so the only option is a universal here I run it all the way up to the battery under the frame?

correct. quite a few threads here on it. you'll have to do all your own wiring if you want to do a brake controller, but if you have a 4 banger you shouldn't be pulling anything heavy enough to need the extra brakes. for a 4 pin the curtis box is pretty simple and taps the taillight harness

Just installed B&W 5" drop/rise hitch...I thought since my truck already had harness in the bumper I was good to go!!!! WRONGGGGG
I needed a brake controller also. So ended up buying a Tekonsha Prodigy P2!!

Going to try my setup out tomorrow.

OP your going to need a brake controller also!
    Proportional is Best!

My SR came without one, I just got a hitch for a bike rack. It’s not wired.

That picture does not look like it pertains to a 2022 Tacoma.

It's not. Like mentioned before, it's for parking assist sensors and cross traffic/Blind Spot Monitor System sensors.

The SR has a hidden connector behind the connectors covered by the Driver's kick panel. It provides tail, combined stop & turn and ground.

You need to purchase a Toyota harness or parts and assemble one that would reach the rear bumper. Also missing is the Battery Charging circuit, trailer brake and reverse in order to complete the 7 position tow connector.

I only need the 4 pin connector since it’s a 4 banger and won’t be towing anything big

This will fill the bumper slot/orifice.
Internally it branches to the side 4 pin from the main 7 pin connector.
Purchasing the mating to it and only "populating" the 4 pin circuit from the cab and your set.

Is this something I’d have to buy from Toyota? Do you know the part number?
