What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

I understand, I’ve been thinking about it and I might leave it installed and try to muffle to sound a bit and see if I like that. Maybe put a sock over it ,lol.

I downloaded and inspected your front end pic, and took some pics of inside my hood for your comparison of some mount points for reference. Your grill shroud looks normal, your hood might be slightly bent, intentionally, to get it aligned to fenders. In your case, if I am correct, I think you should apply some pressure to your grill shroud to meet the hood as it is. What happens when you apply some pressure to the hood where it is raised, does it come down to become level with the grill shroud?



Do you have this wingy thingy, and is it about the same distance away from the shroud as it is on the passenger side wingy thing?

 

I went with dashmat they had a really good deal right now. I think 50% off? It fits damn near perfect. I let my 4 year old install it so it may look a little off in the pic. I’d definitely use more Velcro than it came with if I have to do it again. Bigger strips at least. I went safe and got suede but think next time I’d get the one with the small holes. This is all about preserving the truck for my kid. He’s four and almost everything minus the camper shell and the box buildout I’m doing he’s picked out.

 

These I think are on my list for a level but with the extra weight in my truck bed plus camper I’m going to need some springs in the rear too

 

Icon makes a great progressive add a leaf (AAL) that pairs well with either thr 5100 or 6112s. If you wanna go with a completely new pack, Icon, Deaver, Alcan and Ironman 4x4 are all good options. I run Ironmans medium duty for close to a year now and have loved it.

Quite happy with this recent addition. After a long road trip this summer, found the centre arm rest a little uncomfortable after long periods. Finally purchased the popular centre arm rest cover on Hamazon. Much better now. Experiencing no discomfort now with the elbow.

 

Decided to do a DIY rattle can paint job and line a new (to me) canopy. Total cost was about $300, $1300 all together. Never did anything like this before, so I gave myself 12 hours within 3 weeks to complete. Doesn't look horrible (few runs)...but I wasn't expecting it to look perfect.

- Lined with some cheap Underfelt Capret for RVs/Boats and 3M Hi-Strength Spray Adhesive (Amazon). I went with black to match interior color, however it shows everything...should have went with mid gray.
- Took off track and sanded clear off cap to remove the shine (400 grit). Sanded everything by hand!
- Applied Bondo, sanded it down
- masked off windows and created a little paint booth
- 4 coats primer + primer filler
- Wet sanded primer (800 grit)
- 4 coats base, 5 coats clear (automotivetouchup.com) and then applied their rubbing compound.
- Sprayed the track and put it on backwards (on purpose, I am going to do a DIY roof rack and the clamps I am using are angled). I had to do this twice because I didn't use enough sealant and it was leaking in a few spots - easy fix!
- Had to use touch up paint/clear on a few spots after it was done because my 1.5 year old decided to take a rake to my newly painted cap


Next will be my DIY roof rack using 4 10-series extrusions (tnutz) and about 16 beam clamps (home depot) (~$200). Not sure if I want to add aluminum to the sides, or just use plastic end caps. Either way everything is painted black, I'm just too lazy to put it together.

 

Cool. Were you able to take Kingston Peak from Alice over the top and down the Central City side (or vice versa)? I haven't been up there in a few years but couldn't quite get over the last hill from Alice in my 4Runner. I think I got stopped around here:

Can someone tell me what all I need to buy (w/links) in order to change some of the hidden features, looks like Carista will do it, but what do I need to buy??

I mainly want to change the 3 blinks to 7 blinks on the lane change signals, and maybe a few other things...

I see the Carista OBD (white) for $39.99 and then the Carista EVO (black) for $69.99, which one do I need and do I need anything else??

 

I had deavers on my second gen they were great. I’ve read and heard mixed things about the icon pack. I’m not sure the aal would be enough lift with a full build out box plus camper shell. If it was it would be the easiest

 

Started at 5 pm and finished at 7:45pm. Replaced the springs in my 6112. Went with 650lb because of my winch

The Velcro they give you isn’t worth a damn…wasn’t able to get it to stick no matter how much I cleaned the dash. I anticipated this and had this ready to go
