I say you can still get it pretty tight. But it isn't going to be anywhere as close as machining. This is regarding CNC plasma. I'd expect far better results for CNC bending.

Nice calipers, I had a set like yours. Those "coolant proof" type.

Been suggesting that for awhile now :luvya:

I’ll be bending a shitton of 3/8 plate with my swag setup soon.

Man, that height gauge is pretty cool too.

I'll have to keep my eye out for one; my work isn't precise enough to need one reading in the thousandths but I want one anyway

Be curious to see you bend some up, mainly to see how clean the bends are. Thickest I ever went was 1/4" for practically the full width of it.

Yeah these are some brackets for a fellow member. Simple low precision job.

3/8x5 plate with some holes that I’ll do at work.

Cheap tungsten carbide scribing pen is what I use to mark any and all parts for bending.

    20241005_100147.jpg

After the part is bent, the scribe mark completely disappears since the metal is compressed.

That’s a cool trick, can you feel it with the top die when your lining it up?

doesn't look like much, but spent all yesterday on the trailer, 7 to 7...

got 4 suspension brackets welded on, and got the 4 bushings to suspension arms welded. lots of fabbing backets, and thinking on articulation and lengths..

only one small side project, had to run by menards for a 1-1/2" hole saw to notch the tubing, and they had office chair wheels for $9, which is almost giving them away-- most kits with the same wheel count run $30-40... i got enough for my garage rolling stool, and now have 6 left over to consider converting my work creeper, though i'm concerned the overall dimensions are too large.

trailer looks close to completion, but is so far away, i'm somewhere around 1/3 completed right now...

Anybody have the HF fixture table, I am thinking of picking one up sense I have started working with more aluminum where I cant just use magnets for everything. I already have a heavy cast iron table but its not that flat and no holes. Great for heavy work.

Cons to me seem like top thickness and you need to reach to the bottom to use any of them.

Just looking for real world thoughts

PS, its on sale for a few more days

I'd look for someone locally to laser cut one out of thicker material. When I saw that table in person, I was surprised how thin it is.

I'll take a look, Im not really looking for a project right now. Limited time between the day job and customer side work and I'd rather build things rather than tools

Cut and weld some legs is super quick!

Then again I get it, it's convenient to just bolt together.

Build thread in sig... 4-link long travel

I have a couple of the original ones from Northern tool. They work great for the price. Designed a table for a client in NYC. The base was 7 feet long, and I don't have an 8 foot fixture table. I got two of these tables and welded some tube between them to essentially create a 7.5' table with an empty space in the middle. Table turned out wonderfully square. 74 pieces of 1'x1"X1/8" square tubing.

Now, if you're doing a bunch of 1/4"+ plate work, I don't doubt that you could pull one out of flat pretty easily.

I just picked up myself, I also have one of the Northern tool tables of the same style. they are decent lightweight tables for the price. I would much rather have a nice heavy duty fixture table, but room and funds required do not justify it for the work I do.

    That table is really cool.

I think it should work for what I want to use it for.

I have this big old welding table that I'll use for the heavy work. Also funny seeing the shop before there was even any lights in there, its changed alot in a year and a half
