yeah bro that's what I've been using for years and I was just talking about it either in this thread or the gym/workout thread, it's been the number one selling protein powder AND number one selling overall product period on bodybuilding.com for years, it's the best quality protein for the price IMO, protein isolate, low sugar/carbs and a complete amino acid profile

I've never been into the pre-workout energy supplements, I tried NO Xplode, a really popular nitric oxide supplement that's supposed to dialate the blood vessels to give you more blood flow to the muscle being worked to get bigger pumps and keep them for a longer period of time, and it was also supposed to jack you up and keep you focused but I didn't feel a thing, but even if I did, I wouldn't always get the same reaction out of it, because just like you said it was great at first but your body stopped responding to it after a while and that's what I hear about all of those pre-workout stacks so I just believe in eating clean complex carbs for energy and a good multi-vitamin, the only supplements I take that work for me are creatine, glutamine, BCAA's, universal animal pak multi-vitamin and of course protein

I take the plain basic creatine monohydrate powder, the creatine that started it all, and honestly I really don't think any of those newer versions of creatine out there are any better than the original stuff, that's just supplement manufacturers trying to make more money off of creatine by always coming out with a newer better creatine product when in reality, they all basically work the same, with just different delivery methods to speed up absorption. So I wouldn't buy a real expensive creatine, I'd just start out with monohydrate and if you like the results you get from it then stick with it, if not then maybe a different type of delivery method would work better for you. Here's a good article comparing all the different types of creatine currently out there:

Hey Alex, don't know if this was posted but, I'd like to look pretty big and ripped...not too big though. The problem is there's not a gym for miles. So I made a small gym in my house with Bowflex dumbbells (10-90lbs), treadmill, and jump rope. Any suggestions? Thnx!

well you can hit nearly every muscle group with dumbbells, the treadmill and jump rope covers the cardio, so with the dumbbells I'd start with a full-body circuit and hit at least one exercise for each muscle group like flat or incline dumbbell presses and flys for chest, bent-over rows and a pull-up bar for back like matt said, any kind of curls for biceps, extensions for triceps, dumbbell squats for legs if you can arrange the bowflex to do that, and it'd be great if you could get some kind of leg press or leg extension/curl to isolate quads and hams, but with all of that I'd start with a full-body workout 3 times a week for a few weeks, reps around 12-15, then change your routine to an upper body day, lower body day, rest, upper, then lower again and do that for a few weeks, and after that I would recommend one muscle group a day but you're very limited as far as exercises go so there's not a whole lot more you can do than that, if it was me, I'd be driving the extra miles to the gym lol

    yes sir

    Wow lots of awesome info.

    I have two questions,

    1) How can I get a bigger neck/ neck muscles/broader shoulders? (I was cursed with small shoulders :()

    2) How can I work my cardio without running? I hate running!!

I need to have GREAT cardio though. Anyway around running or suck it up and move on?

edit, also is it bad to workout twice a day?

Im about to start the insanity program, but would also like to throw in some stuff, like say insanity in the morning then some other stuff in the evening.

    1. Do you mean your actual neck, or traps? And by small shoulders do you mean narrow clavicles or small deltoids?

    2. When prepping for competitions I always do a combination of the stationary recumbent bike, eliptical, treadmill, running and basketball, but I always do a lot more eliptical than anything else, I was never much of a runner but it's great cardio so it needs to be incorporated, but it's not the only way to get good cardio in

    3. It's not bad to work out twice a day IF...you're working different muscle groups or if by 2 work outs you mean one session of cardio and one session of weights, BUT...if you mean 2 session of weights at different times during the day, then this is fine UNLESS you're training twice a day every day of the week, and if so, then that is ONLY ok if you're taking in the proper amount of protein and getting enough good complex carbs and overall calories in because if you're training that much and not giving your body what it needs, then you're over-training and you'll actually start to break down muscle tissue instead of build it

I'm glad you guys are enjoying the information, perhaps the mods would consider making it a sticky? even though the health forum isn't that active lol it should be though but then again, this is mainly a tacoma forum so it's understandable

If your looking for cardio without running and you are able, pick yourself up a heavy bag. Time yourself, 3 minute rounds...this will get your heart rate up real quick and if your having a bad day it will feel good to pound the piss out of it. :D:D

What is the best kind of curl to do? I do not like standing curls because when I try to squeeze that last rep out for the set, I tend to want to use my back. I like sitting on a vertical-back chair and doing curls because I feel like I cannot cheat as easily.

What is the best way to burn fat? Eating healthy, adjusting calorie intake every couple weeks, small meals a day, and cardio all good? What else could be done?

In your opinion, what is the best way to work the trapz?

if you go to a gym that has a sauna, that helps burn alot of fat. i was talking to a guy that goes to the gym and he has a belt thing that goes around his waist and he wears it in the sauna cause it helps make that area sweat more and he went down 2 pant sizes in a month

I would try that, but I do not have a cable machine at my friend's house to use, I can only use free weights.

Sounds good. I do not have access to a sauna though. I need to keep as much water in as possible for my sports also. I would like to get down to 10% BF, I'm at 16%
