That’s correct. Both in Mexico. Guanajuato and Baja California.

some and more and more and more and
Then it’s at least 1/3 of production lost

Guanajuato opened in 2019. It was designed for the TNGA platform that 4th gen’s are built on.

I’m guessing the Texas line that Tacomas used to be built on was overhauled for 3rd gen tundras (also built on TNGA)

Sorta. Guanajuato was built to take the place of the Tacoma line in Texas. Then the Sequoia moved from Indiana to Texas.

Full-size owners care about their truck being American made and Tacoma owners are part of a cult that don’t care where it’s made.

Is that why they really stopped making Tacos in Texas?

What is their plan to replace the production that was lost by doing that?

Never heard a reason, just know that the tundra took its place there or at least that’s what I was told

Guanajuato was originally envisioned to produce Corollas. Makes perfect sense: absurdly cheap labor combined with current robotics assembling your cheapest cars. Not as big a deal if the hoods don’t line up correctly on a $20k hatchback.

Then Tacoma sales mushroomed, creating stress on both Baja and San Antonio, so they assigned Tacoma production to Guanajuato. That also conveniently freed up floor space in San Antonio to move the Sequoia from Indiana to Texas, as the Sequoia is identical to Tundra.

Now we’ve come full circle, as it’s starting to look like they’re making way too many Tacomas.

Who would have thought that the average American mid-size pickup truck buyer wouldn't be willing to pay ~$70,000 out-the-door.

Guanajuato was Corolla, then shifted to Tacoma. Moving the Tacoma freed up space for the Sequoia in Texas. Moving the sequoia freed up space in Indiana for the Grand Highlander and TX.

Not a fan of it on the 3rd gen, hopefully it looks much better on the 4th gen.

The overall video of turbo knowledge is great for those that are brand new to the system,

Give me a break. This forum is prime troll/Karen habitat. Perhaps I should join a Prius or Jeep forum and tell owners how stupid they are. It'll make me feel happy.

To anybody who has a gas Gen 4:

How is the "interstate passing" performance? If you step on the accelerator at 65 MPH, does anything happen?

When I test-drove an SR5 gasser, I discovered that she had a lot of spunk between 25 MPH and 50 MPH but I didn't have a chance to stretch her legs on the open highway.

    Thanks.

It's a rocket compared to the gen 3s.

Probably doesn’t do as well from 50-80 as my 5.7 Tundra did? But surprisingly it is comparable!
