What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Got a bunch done on both trucks yesterday and spent some money this morning.
Daily driver yesterday:
painted the new gas filler door with Duplicolor color match paint. 4 coats color and 4 coats of clear
Installed an Ultragauge on a Spyker a-pillar mount
Installed a color matched grill
some general cleaning
This morning:
ordered a Rockford Fosgate powered 8 inch sub, 75x4 channel amp, 6 channel line out converter, cables and wire
ordered a Headlight services harness and bulbs for the ultimate headlight upgrade
Camping truck:
detailed and vacuumed the interior for the first time in probably 3 yrs
reorganized and cleaned up all of the camping gear

 

I have seen a bunch of reviews of these tearing apart quickly if you wheel at all as you actually hit the bump stops compared to just daily driving? Anyone here wheel their rig with these and have some input on the durability?

 

running perryparts to try a new company that says the design has integrated air gaps for compression performance.

For whatever reason I had one blow out from a hard hit. Told them. They sent me new ones and said the design has been revised/improved.
No issues so far.

They're the best on price.
At the end of the day you're gonna need bump stops and the stock ones are kind of shit. Pick whatever you want.

I'm more interested in trying a new company with new design than some generic off the shelf old expensive part.
Ideally, the truck isn't being slammed on bump stops, and when I did that one time, it was because I made an avoidable mistake off road.

 

Got a set of double cab behind the seat storage bins and put them in my regular cab.

 

Gave her a bath.

 

Love those wheels. I'm eventually going to get me a set of the FN wheels that are just like them, but they will be in the 17" flavor and black. Your truck really looks good.

 

I wheel a pretty good amount and a good mix of high speed and crawling. Have had these on for two years without issues.

 

Does anybody know of any good fab shops around the quad cites IL/IA location. (moline IL) I recently was leaving work and hit a small deer and took out half my bumper. I leave at 3/4 am in the morning and the deer are crazy. I would like a quality bumper with full hoops.

 

Yes if you beat the crap out of them they will fall apart over time. I ran them on a DD and they were fine for that.

 

Did some fluid swapping and undercarriage peeping for the first time on the new truck. Rear diff, transmission, transfer case, power steering, and an attempt at the front diff but the drain was buggared by a prior greasemonkey and stripped.

But I can't stop staring at this undercarriage (remote purchase)..I was expecting it to be pretty clean but I am just blown away..and the seller was apologetic for it being, "a little rusty underneath."

Do you know what he used to coat his frame? It looks like there’s an oil film over it but not like fluid film.

 

Wiped down the engine bay a bit . I need to clean the under area of the hood someday . Pulled all rubber plugs from rocker panels and sprayed Fluid Film inside . Sprayed some Krown between floor pan and rocker standing seams and up into door drains . Washed truck and used some McGuires spray wax . Next thing before winter is hit the frame with Fluid Film .

Nice to be able to enlarge the photos on my phone to see exactly how to cut and place the bulb seal pieces from the 10' length. Extruded Solutions, Inc. manufactures, retails, and ships (USPS free in a week) from West Chicago, IL. Drain holes in the side cubbies were plugged yesterday, too, so intrusion of dust, silt, sand, and more should be reduced under the cap. I plan to have the cap reset and to seal the area under the rail caps (if it wasn't done originally) one of these days.

 

Got boosted over the weekend. My fiancé and I installed it together. I think she was more the supervisor and I was the laborer.

It's dirty, but I was too tired to clean after.

 

Not today, but yesterday got packed up and loaded up for home from the last camping trip of the season.

 

Initial fitting of my gun set up for travel. Thats with a right hand draw holster may use left hand so I can mount on the other side between the mount and console.

 

Anyone have any tips or tricks to replacing the alternator on a 2012 4.0?
