Okay, Short Storytime with Crippled old Man

When I was young say between 8 and 14, when we would visit my Grand Parents in Oklahoma every summer, My Grandma would mix up some ice cream in one of the old hand crank models that used Ice and Rock Salt. Then all of us kids would take turns cranking it until it was ready. She used fresh milk from that mornings milking. Loaded with Fat and Sugar, but man that stuff was the best. She would skim the cream from the milk, put that in a mason jar and we all took turns shaking it until it turned to butter. She only bought basics, like Flour, salt, condiments and other baking ingredients from the store. They grew almost all of their veggies and she canned most everything. My Grandpa grew 75 acres of watermelons every other year, and we had the run of the farm. Those were the good old days.

Actually neither. both were worth the effort for the end result. What was really strange for us, was going from Store bought milk to drinking fresh milk every day. It took about 3 days to get used to the taste. She served us ice cold milk in pewter cups.

Now as far as this latest Poll goes. The only reason that I ate Government block Cheese in the plain cardboard boxes, was because my Grandma on my mothers side of the family was given more than she could eat. It really wasn't bad cheese at all.
