Nothing, you're perfectly fine using 0w16. The thinner the oil, the better the fuel economy is....at least on paper. That kind of stuff matters here in The States where we have CAFE. Also, here in The States the EPA mandates that a manufacturer "recommend" whatever viscosity the engine is certified on. If you read the manual though, it will say it's fine to use a heavier oil under certain conditions.

Generally speaking a more viscous oil (heavier) will provide a bit more protection. I use 0w20 in both our Corollas that recommend 0w16. The viscosity difference is not that dramatic at operating temperature and I still have the winter weight (0w) for quick cold temperature flow.

    Morning @MQQSE
Bill can explain it better than I can but it’s the flow of fluid at a certain temp.
The less resistance the easier the engine rotates which equals more mpg.
But there are specs for each manufacturer and IIRC some overlap other weights. that’s why if you change your oil when it’s warm it’s like water.
Bill will slap my hand if I’m wrong.

So here's my thought interpreting what you've posted. I might sacrifice a likely negligible MPG amount for longer engine life by running 0W-20 vs 0W-16. I just as soon use 0W-20, as that is what I've been using in the Truck and Highlander.
Straight up, am I interpreting your words correctly. Knowing your background, I truly value your opinion here.
Thank you, Good Morning, yada-yada-yada :hattip:

Nothing wrong with 0w16 and with the cold temperatures and all the miles you put on it's perfectly fine. I use 0w20 in the Camry (where it specs 0w16) is to have a little buffer for oil dilution due to short trips and idling.

My current Turbo Taco specs 0w20 and if I were changing the oil myself I'd bump it up to 5w30 like I did with my 3rd gens. It's going to be a dealer baby till I turn it in, and they use Mobil 1 0w20 in their bulk tanks. I'm more worried about the transmission grenading over the engine

More casting debris apparently in the transmission which renders gears 1-6 useless leaving only 7-8. I think vin dates up to 5/24 can be affected. Of course mine is a 1/24 build. I was initially going to keep the truck as it's my favorite one so far, but if the trans doesn't fail within my 3 years and gets replaced they can have it back. It has been shifting funny recently so who knows :goingcrazy:

"Never buy first year regen" confirmed. Contributing factor in my not buying my 3rd Gen 'til 2019. Which also caused my biggest truck buying mistake ...
    that POS Ram. :bananadead:

Also contributed to My Chief buying his 2023 3rd Gen vs 2024 4th Gen. :cookiemonster:

In theory yes. Regardless, using 0w20 in Sumbitch will be perfectly fine if you want to standardize your oil stash. It will flow just has quickly as 0w16 and any MPG loss will negligible. 0w20 is also less prone to icing than 0w16.

But don't lose a moment of sleep over any of this. Continuing 0w16 will be just fine if that's what you want to do.

Adam and I have just spent too much time hanging out on BITOG site.
