well, you know I love me some Italian moto's! Pretty sure the V1000 Convert belonged to a widely known Guzzi wrench, who shared a photo of Blaine's BMW in his photos of this event. Looks like a great community in your parts.

My Saturday coffee shop run...Mostly Triumphs, but there was an absolutely ridiculously clean 96 CBR600. Just the opposite of the Honda you shared - thousands exist, but few like this. Seems like it was a good weekend for motos.

My Buddy got a MuckRock mural in his alley this summer. In Indy of all places. She's a widely know graffiti artist, for those who don't know.

Well... My wife was not having a lot of fun riding... really stressing out on the road, mainly around clutching, and knowing what gear to be in, stalling... So on Thursday she sold her Rebel 500 after owning it all of 34 days and a touch over 100 miles...

    upload_2024-10-7_8-45-41.jpg

But... you may notice these aren't pics of her Rebel 500... these are pics of her 2023 Rebel 1100 DCT we picked up on Saturday! Sunday we went out for a ride and she repeatedly said this was what she was looking forward to the whole time. By taking the clutch and shifting outta the equation, she's able to concentrate on riding, traffic, etc. And not something she was thinking about when moving up, but this bike has MUCH better suspension, she noticed it the first time she hit a bump.

    upload_2024-10-7_8-45-48.jpg

I'm looking forward to trying it out, hopefully soon. I'm pretty sure I'll be jealous of all the oomph this thing has. She's currently running in rain mode, which people suggest online for new riders. You can really tune the characteristics, Power, Traction control, Engine Braking (down shifting) and, separately, how fast it upshifts.

Awesome! I'm glad we have the option for riders of all sorts to get on two wheels. I don't think I'll ever own a DCT but if it's something that gets more people on bikes, then I'm all for it.

I was going to say, "dang, that bike looks so good, sucks she had to sell it", but glad that it's the new bike haha.

Lots of red flags here. What else did the crazy ex girlfriend do to this bike? Sugar in the tank maybe? Sounds like he's trying to get out from under a loan on a damaged bike.
I'd pass on this. There will be other bikes.

I can totally understand where she's coming from. As someone highly experienced offroad with a clutch, even I've been stressed hitting the streets, so stressing about both could be a LOT. She's not against continuing to learn a clutch, but thinks that might be better on a dirtbike for now, or on the road once she's comfortable on the street.

She was thinking about possibly getting a Ryker, but I suggested sticking with 2 wheels if possible, even if it did cost a good hunk more money. I didn't want her to give up on riding 2 wheels. So yeah, this was a GREAT option.

After the first bit I was going to suggest a DCT, but you already did it! Tell her congrats from all of us who also love the 2 wheels!

Yeah the 690 based supermotos aren't rare bikes, at least around here. I'd still trade for a clean one, but not one with a questionable history or financing.

Track day Saturday was insane. Triple digit heat + red flags every morning session. I only did 5 laps across 3 sessions in the morning! For reference I usually do 7-8 laps a session.

Didn't get a PB due to the heat and reduced riding time, as well as a fairly worn out rear tire. Looks like I'll have to change out my rear tire every 2-3 track days if I don't figure out suspension soon.

    Still had fun though!

Friend of mine suffered a broken left hand years back and no longer has sufficient range of motion and hand strength to deal with a manual clutch. DCT is the only way for him to keep riding so I'm glad these options exist.

The guy she bought it from had a hand injury and couldn't use a clutch, which is why he had it. He only put 589 miles on it before we picked it up. First baby is on the way for him so they were selling a bunch of stuff apparently.

I've also broken my left hand and man that was a looong process to get it rehabbed. I ended up installing a light pull lever on my bike just to have the strength to squeeze it, and spent a lot of time in the gym building back grip strength.

That’s awesome! MuckRock did a huge mural at my buddy’s indoor skatepark in North Haven, CT a while back. She does awesome work. Unfortunately that place is no longer around.

Now I'm going to have to go through the 1000+ mural photos I took last year and see if any are MuckRock's work.

That's not very long to be jumping into traffic. I would have suggested doing more low key places like parks or something then start venturing out.

Just go to google images page and search 'muckrock artist', it may help narrow it down before you even start.

She's west coast, but she travels (as do you!)

That's been a big issue here. Parks and stuff are a no go cause they are packed with cars/people. Schools and churches around here with nice parking lots all gate themselves up. Even our neighborhood is pretty busy with traffic (cars backing out of driveways, etc). I recently headed across the state with our trailer to find a more low key place to ride.

I will add she has tons of experience riding her big automatic utility quad, so handlebars and general hand controls, foot brake, aren't an issue.
