NEED HELP CV AXLES KEEP RIPPING DUE TO LIFT

Your poor coil springs. Spacer lifts cause your upper control arms to bind against your springs. Smashing them every time you articulate.

 

I’m just trying to save y’all some headache so you don’t waste time or money on this.
Lifting is an easy mistake to do. There’s a saying with lifting or anything outside the norm.
You wanna play then you Gotta pay. The truck was designed to articulate with the suspension that it came with from factory. I lifted once, I hated it after about a year. The body of the truck will take harsher hits down the road risking cracked welds, drive shaft issues, wheel bearing issues, and an entire list of things that will wear out faster.

I will agree to a certain point. A crappy to even a budget lift, you are correct. A proper lift can prevent such negative affects, but come at a cost.

 

The shocks might be better than stock lol

 

You haven't seen 6112 shocks in person, there is no "might" about it, they are much beefier and can handle more abuse. Premature parts failure might lean more towards people who have lifts due to them actually taking their trucks off road more than the person who keeps it stock, similar to cracked welds, wheel bearing issues etc. why be scared to use your truck when you can go on an adventure?

Don't put spacer on top of 5100. If you want 5 inch lift, you need a drop bracket style lift.

 

Holy crap! I didn’t notice that bend in the coil spring the first time I looked at the pics.

OP, I suggest you replace those spacers with smaller spacers or (better) take them off. You are drooping too far and causing bind in your suspension components. They have a limited range of motion and you can’t change it without spending $$$. An aftermarket UCA is not the solution.

 

This thread is all kinds of special. Remove the spacer lift and put the Bilsteins on the top knotch. Get you all the lift you need since you already know they are "adjustable".

 

Remove the spacer. At full droop it's like every single suspension part is touching at the same time.....this can't ride good at all.

Yeah, like the sound of that upper clipping the coil is the first thing that comes to mind. Let's hope that OP either just went for it on their own and didn't understand suspension geometry, or they are trolling us.....because if a shop installed that....they need to be closed down.

 

Even without bilstein 5100's, larger spacers do this by design. Every tacoma I've seen with spacer lifts have rub marks on the spring from the UCA making contact at droop.

 

OP probably bought it used and has no clue what half of us are even saying. I bet he's real, and maybe regretting his truck purchase. Previous owner may have gotten sick of his snowball of errors and made it someone else's problem instead of undoing the dumb stuff. Or OP is the original owner, bored, and wants to stir the pot. Either way, none of us have to drive that pile.

 

We must re-educate OP....over and over and over and over again. LOL.

OP - The advice to take the spacer above the Bilstein "coilover" off and live your new life with only 1 or 2 inches of lift is solid. You will be much happier and richer.

 

The only reason I can think of to combine a preload-based lift with a top hat spacer is to help fit 35’s without a tub or body lift. I’m not even sure if it would work, but I have considered it. If tried, one should definitely cycle the suspension to make sure nothing binds and the shocks don’t limit up travel.

Otherwise, you should use one or the other. They are mostly redundant.
