    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Currently working on some Neanderthal cutting and measuring of PVC for my drain since I just added the second flange with the mesh insert.

    20241005_150644.jpg

Both flanges installed now. Just need to glue up the rest of the PVC then dump the contents of my tank into the water table for a final leak test.

    20241005_150655.jpg

Can't work on a new press brake until I get my local order of motor mounts finished along with the remainder of those bed stiffeners :boink:

I been wanting a height gauge as well. I have the poor mans surface plate which is a piece of 24"x24"x3/4" glass plate my dad had laying around

I'll send you my fusion files if you want... you can tell exactly what I was working on when you sent me the pre-order link to the Titan... lol.

That's when you take the time to post about your CNC table and all the work you're getting done with it today.

    Ooooh yes.

I think I saw an old video of an engineer having made a press brake with a similar design you've got on top there.

    So far so good.

Time to leave the table alone today/overnight and come back to check it in the morning.

    20241005_152705.jpg

    All glued up.

The left side sits a tad closer to the table than the right side on purpose; this helps to drain down towards the right.

Spoke too soon, it's leaking at one bolt.

    20241005_161547.jpg

So I'll drain it and work on it sometime next week; at least it empties fairly quick.

    20241005_161635.jpg

I may just do what other members do and drain the table every other cut session.

I think I watched this - and a couple others. My dealiebob was I didn't want to take the time to learn how to do differential control with piezo valves and all that stuff. Just one piston to do the job, air or lever control... But the Titan does a pretty clever thing - they hydraulics are driven by two stepper motors and the ram has an encoder that reads 10ths.... So they just run closed loop position control. Super clever. Probably could be controlled with the same doodad on your plasma cnc!

BUT... if I was making a press brake, I'd:
    - go for 30+ tons...
    - single piston
    - buy a cheap DRO and make a manual back gage, but one that had readouts and hand cranks.
If I was smarter with electronics and hydraulics, I'd copy the Langmuir system - two pistons, stepper motors with linear scales... cool!

There are some curious things about the Langmuir CNC Back Gage tho... they automate the up-down and in-out motion... You have to manually slide the two fingers side to side individually... But... the up/down/in/out actuation is done with 4 motors - to prevent racking, I'm guessing... But in my mind, they could have made something that used one motor for X axis, one motor for R axis (up/dn) and the other two motors to move the fingers side to side... Not actuating that motion makes the CNC part of the back gage really limited. I will be working on making the side to side clamp work better...

I'll definitely be picking up one of those scribes, looks great for getting more than sharpie precision but less than 0.005".

Yeah I have air over hydraulic on everything, dont have patience for bottle jacking. For these brackets I think I am just going to use swag backstop.

This reminded me that I need to setup a foot petal to free up both hands.

You think it's running down the thread? Maybe a thread sealant will work?

It's 100% running down the thread

The mesh sits between both seals; the bolt hole for the seals/mesh probably created a large enough pocket for water to drip (it's crazy slow)

I emptied the table but my thinking is that an o-ring can seal up that tiny gap between the flange and the nut

I tried a bonded washer on the bottom side and it didn't work; there is the tiniest gap between the threads and the bonded washer

I could try that as well, thought plumber's tape would've been enough since I went thick with it

Yeah i think some pipe dope or sealant is def the better route for that.

    @Zebinator

Think I was talking to you about making my own press brake right?

Just noticed that SWAG now offers a "pro" kit which uses American tooling - https://www.swagoffroad.com/collections/pro-brakes

Seeing as how the bottom holder is adjustable means you can just buy bottom blocks to swap out with.

Finally something that's been requested for a long time.

    It's like damn finally!

    Screenshot 2024-10-07 103730.png

Just got off the phone with them too.

The bottom holder opens to 5" wide so it is made to accept the 1/2" tang for the dies (not just the punches) but opens up to accept most blocks that are sold as well.

You guys make me feel like a Neanderthal with all your measuring and science shit….

I am very thankful for this man cave, but it far exceeds my capacity and gives me plenty of room to grow. This forum(people) is huge asset for me but I’m not too sure I offer much to the pot.

Here are some shots of my workshop.

You got a shit ton of awesome goodies in your shop; that lathe will get you some perfectly accurate parts for sure!

I’m like a 16 year old with keys to your kwik vette, looks great but I can only park it straight in the driveway.

That lathe has some serious slop. I got crushed on a deal before and picked this one up to get by in the meantime. There is a ton of good stuff being emptied out of factories in Connecticut on a daily basis.
