How do I remove the warning label from my sun visor

I’m not opposed to safety stickers on pieces of equipment that can kill the operator, passengers or surrounding pedestrians.
I am grateful for seatbelts and air bags.

 

Is it really that annoying? All you're doing is lowering the value of your vehicle by removing them

I'm talking in terms of trade-in value or resale

Most of the buying public is looking for (used) vehicles that are stock or close to it. Something that has been unmodified or beat on. Like it or not, when somebody sees a truck where the guy removed a bunch of warning labels their mind will immediately start thinking "OK, what else did this guy mess with?"

And if you tried to trade it back in at a dealership they would likely use it as an excuse to ding you more money to replace the visors and warning labels.

Removed the drivers side "plastic sticker" like burntcremebrulee did on page 2 and like he said that 3rd sticker is invincible.

First, don't attempt to remove the plastic card holder. To remove the stickers, take a heat gun on low sweeping back and forth.
*For me the best practice was to start working a corner, not removing your fingers, heating and sweeping. When you feel like your finger tips are about to combust, the glue will release, peel and sweep with heat until it comes off.
Seriously, the glue hits a certain temperature and releases. It's about the temperature that you feel like your finger tips are almost on fire.
Use common sense, although my advice may sound contradictory.
Not a big deal.

 

i have already done mine......i dont think the plastic sleeve has been around for many years

 

I am also grateful for seatbelts and airbags, BUT I don’t need a warning label in my face every time I drive.

 

I can't speak for older or newer generations, but if you have the same model as a 2019, please read:

I landed here because I searched for "tacoma european spec sun visors no labels." This is because I spent the better part of the last week slowly trying to remove the 6 (!) labels from my visors only to discover that it is physically impossible to do so without causing obvious damage to the visors.

I tried everything the Internet had to offer as far as DIY for this. Those things include:

• 99% isopropyl alcohol
• Acetone
• Goo Gone
• WD-40
• Steam cleaner
• Pressure washer

I'm sure this has all been reported before, but I like to complain.

If you are considering trying this, I urge you to reconsider, and guarantee you will ruin your visors.

Some things to consider if you insist on trying like I did:

• The "labels" on the mirror doors are not labels or stickers; they are painted on.
  
• If you soak the ones glued to the fabric in isopropyl (>=91%), the sticker will come off, but the adhesive that held it on will not. That will take you several days of work, and some of the adhesive is just permanent and can't be removed. It's part of the fabric now.

Honestly, after trying it myself, I am convinced the best thing to do would be:

Take the visors to a local upholstery shop and have them remove the fabric and re-wrap them. I would then mask everything off with painter's tape for the mirror side and spray paint the mirror door in a matte black or dark grey. I don't think you would be able to tell there was anything there before.

As for the stickers on the fabric: if I had another one to experiment on, I would go with the steam cleaner first (or a heat gun) and see if the adhesive would come off with the sticker. If it doesn't come off, you have to scrub it enough to ruin the fabric to get it out.

Anyway, godspeed if you try it. I guess mine are going to an upholstery shop.

This is the best I could do (I have OCD so they are trash now):

 

Duct Tape - I saw about 5 different colors of the stuff at the hardware store in Fort Scott Kansas....but I'm betting you can find it where you live.
Pretty sure it would go right over that label or whatever it is that's causing all this discussion and add a little splash of color to boot.

Can vouch for this method, it worked for me and only left behind very faint squares where the stickers were. GooGone on a microfiber helped a little, and once installed in the truck the lighting will never be good enough to notice. They just look black

 

I tried removing mine. Ended up melting the fabric. So I just covered both of mine with some molle covers, ha. There are openings on the other side for the mirrors to open just fine.

 

Sorry, but that was not my experience. 91% IPA, GooGone, GoofOff, and a steam cleaner work well. There is very slight residue but no damage. Perfection would have been great, but the current state is not noticeable.

Good luck with the fix. It is really worth the effort.

 

Removing the stickers from the fabric couldn’t be easier. Clothes iron without steam, a piece of fabric or paper towels and patience. First pass removes the label, subsequent passes with clean fabric or paper towels removes the adhesive residue. Don’t set the iron too high and don’t leave it on so long that you melt the fabric.
I only did the stickers visible while folded. If I wanted to do the mirror covers I would just put a sticker over them

 

OK, I have a new set that I am prepared to destroy. I will try your method first. Thinking about fabric to use in between, a piece of an old cotton t-shirt sounds like it might work well...

 

That’s what others have used with success. I did paper towel and had good results.
Just make sure that once the labels are off, you use a new section of what ever it is, every time you lift it off to check your progress, so don’t put any adhesive back on the visor.

You know this thread is funny, these stickers on my truck actually took themselves off after years of sun exposure. A lot of the time I'll leave my visor in the open position, all these years the sun's baked the adhesive and one day I noticed one coming off on the edge so I peeled them off easy peazy. Now I have residue where the stickers were, doesn't bother me tho.

 

The mattress police have been dispatched and on their way. Do not leave town!
