I own a 2008 Toyota Tacoma 4 x 4 and I just replaced the ADD on it And I hear that switch on and then I hear clicking in my glove box but there’s no light. This is my last resort coming on here seeing if anybody has had any issues similar to mine hope to hear what you guys have to say

    Is the 4wd and/or L4 light flashing?

None of the lights for the 4wd are either flashing or turning on

Yeah let’s say I put it into four wheel low and then try to put it back into four high without putting it in neutral the truck starts beeping and when I put it into four high, the truck jolt forward, so I’m pretty sure it is engaging

So it would seem we have either broken wires/bad connections on the indicator circuits, an issue with the 4wd ECU, or an issue with the Combination Meter (Instrument Cluster).

Do you have a test light?

Well I guess we can start at the 4wd ECU, backprobe the IND1 and IND3 circuits with a needle or other suitable tool. Test light connected to a known good Ground if you touch IND1 the 4wd light should light up, if you touch IND3 the L4 light should light up.

For info on accessing the 4wd ECU and pin locations see the thread below.

Can't see what that would have to do with the lights as they are controlled byt the 4wd ECU.

    Why was the actuator replaced?

Did the lights stop working immediately after or were thwy not working before?

Did you possibly break a wire or a pin when rehooking up the plug?

Pretty rare for the 4wd ECU to fail, did you test the indicator light circuits?

That's interesting, would be worth poking around there and seeing what is going on.

Did you just get the truck?
