Mine as well. Didn't need wireless charging but would like to see the phone screen.

I did this mount. Works great. Doesn’t slip or fall out during minimum off roading

You’re in luck, you dont have to buy a phone mount then!

Some people use their phones when stopped, parked, etc, or maybe you need to input directions on a map. Far faster on a phone. Sometimes you need to pick up the phone to send a message. Not everyone has the same driving habits or lifestyle and all have different needs…

I run something very similar to hl.seaburn, a wireless mag mount, but mine is set up down low. I was looking for an area where I would have good contact for the adhesive, and I’m not a fan of putting things in front of the vents, particularly in the cases where its quite cold out (Canadian here) and the heat is on full blast (though that location is nice for visibility).

I’ve set mine up so the phone is suspended next to the shifter (where my hand is often at rest), and it covers the 4wd/drive mode ‘wheel’ and park brake buttons (which I hardly touch). Easy enough to move the phone if I need access, but I can operate the 4wd with the phone in place. I dont really change my drive setting, i stay in eco.

I’m also running two phones, my personal and work phone, and have them out all day while im in the truck most of the day, so the dual wireless chargers is quite useful. I’ve only had the truck a week and a half and left for work with it the day after buying it so haven’t had time to run the cable neatly yet. The phone does not interfere with me cycling the shifter.

Is it correct that these mounts fit quite nicely behind the upper part of the 3rd gen screens?

Mounting to the upper part will require a shorter section of Tough Track from RAM. Their 8” piece is the perfect size IMO. Any longer simply wouldn’t fit or would start to cause problems with the slight curvature of the access panel near the ends of the track

Do you get any movement of the trim piece during use?

I use one of the popit it holders on the back of my phone. i just stick the mounting part on the side trim of the screen close to the top. Holds my phone in the perfect position for me. I use the same type of holder in all my vehicles.
