Good morning

Cooler temperatures are in the forecast for Jawga.

I am past the idea of sleeping in the back of a vehicle. The last time was when I hit 60 and even then built a platform in the Taco so that my legs went under the platform for more head room. An old mountaineering trick

Have most of stuff like L tracks to pull the 3rd row seats in the Lexus GX 460 and build out a platform then at the last minute decided against it. So far has been working great and not looking to get locked into a drawer system because once installed it isn't coming out.

Started off the morning going down the Gunflint and up 61 to the Arrowhead trail. Nice sunrise over Lake Superior

Up the trail and a couple of side trails for the dog to run did manage one grouse and may have misssseeed another. It happens. So did this pretty sure those creases aren't going to buff out

Continued up the trail to the Pigeon River helibase which is just a clearing on a ridge

The Pigeon River divides Canada and the US to the right of the River is Canada

This evening up to the end of the Gunflint Trail to Seagull Lake. 70 miles as the crow flies from the Pigeon River helibase a hell of a lot further driving not sure how far but it is a fur piece. Twas worth the drive

Up at 0430 to go chase little brown birds again. This one was behind the truck this afternoon at the cabin but man law says not to shoot camp birds

The dog didn't get the memo and sent him on his way

Love the pictures Mike except the scratches. My thoughts on the platform are storage and speed up arrival on a couple long distance solo trips I have in mind. I will probably make other arrangements when I get where I want to be. House, hotel depends on how remote the stream or river may be. I did this on a dog to Denver a couple years back drove till couldn’t go anymore slept beside the crate in a rest area and repeat. Then checked into a hotel for a much needed shower. Or if there is a place off the beaten path do a little stream side for the night. The main thing is I’m a little OCD about organization and I just like to build things. I get crap about being so particular about my tools because I know what drawer everything is in. The wife or BIL put things back wherever and then to me it’s missing for days until I stumble across it by accident.

Same here. They usually show up between 6 and 630. Can’t they learn to be quiet?

Back when I was wrenching for a living, if a coworker asked to borrow a tool I'd tell them "as long as you don't put it back in my toolbox" which of course would result in a puzzled look. I'd tell them put it in my tool cart and I'll put it back where it actually belongs.

It could be worse, I'm already an hour from home and at work at 6am. The only garbage trucks I see are on their way to start their day too.

Morning all

I sleep in the back of the truck on treks, got a 4 inch foam pad and put a therma-rest on top of it for support.

I drag all the gear out of the truck (large Military pelican cases) so the back of the truck is all mine. Of course there are no bugs in the desert. So the tailgate is down.

The first scratch / ding on a truck is painful, but I always look at it as a sign that my tuck is being used as a truck, not a Mall parking lot Queen
