My grandma told me that she preferred wringing them - it was faster. Grab em by the head, crack the whip and then twirl the lasso until it completely decapitates.

The very day my grandparents married (in 1950) was the day that my grandma decided she done wrung her last. She was getting her chickens from the grocer from then on.

Shame, I always wanted to see that technique in action.


At my previous job we spent some time at the A&M experimental ag barn, helping solve foot rot and other dietary related diseases. It's a delicate balance getting just the right calcium intake into a bird, apparently. But you do see some things go down during that study.
