    Hey 3rd Generation TRD Fan's,

My question is, can I replace my factory 16-inch rims on my 2022 TRD Off-Road with a set of 17" factory TRD 4-Runner wheels with the exact same tire size, without worrying about the front tires rubbing against the fender well of the truck, especially when I make a left / right turn or go over a speed bump?

Otherwise, a simpler question, do the tires rub during normal driving?

    Thanks
    David

The wheel diameter makes no difference. The wheel width, offset, and backspacing can make a difference. Regardless, many people are running 4Runner wheels on their taco. Google on “tacomaworld trd 4runner wheels”.

Also note that the Tacoma Sport comes with 17” wheels and the Limited comes with 18” wheels.

One other note… the tire diameter (and width) do matter.

You can plug your tire sizes in here and compare: Just for reference the Sport models come with 265/65 R17 tires.

Stop asking people who know absolutely nothing about your specific truck. You're just getting bad information.

Actually what the guy @Discount Tire was trying to do by suggesting to keep the tires stock size was preventing some bitch from coming back 3 days later whining about his new oversized tires rubbing/wobbling/vibrating etc. . Once things are altered from OEM the liability goes through the roof.
Edit: Of course the owner is free to put any sized tire on his vehicle he chooses. But then he has to live with the results, good or bad.

    I'm sure he did.
    That is the safest answer.
I'd tell you the same thing.

No big chain is going to tell you to deviate from factory size.
If they do, they have to deal with any possible issues.

And ones that do, likely aren't going to guarantee anything.

If they’re the 17x7 +4mm Sema wheels, I had rubbing on the mud flaps with those when turning at speed or while hitting an unevenness in the road, while running 265/70R17. If you don’t have mud flaps then you won’t have any issues.

Lift isn’t going to help either way, so that shouldn’t factor into the equation at all.

I agree with you in a broad sense. A lot of vendors are sort of brain dead when it comes to specific details about the vehicles they work on. But as much business that Taco owners throw @Discount Tire I’ve got to believe MOST managers have to know what works and what doesn’t work. I’m not endorsing them BTW. I’m sure they have their shitheads like everyplace else. My local shop has been pretty good.
