The Makita/ Dolmar is a good saw for the money.

I run a Husky XP , Commercial grade, but light weight.

Stihl is the best overall, even their homeownee grade ones are great. Echo and Husqvarna are also very good, they have homeowner and commercial grade as well. Any of the Stihl saws should be running in 15-20 years as long as you do basic upkeep, for Echo and Husqvarna I would recommend getting a commercial grade saw if you want it running in the same time.

Got most of the weeds wacked yesterday and mowed the yard at the house. Then I looked over at the garden and see the wife digging taters. I go over and said hey how about I put the middle buster on the tractor and we make it easier. She kindly agreed, we got probably 2 bushels. We have brussel sprouts growing now and red and green cabbage. The cabbage are getting eaten by bugs but the brussel sprouts are not. So I guess we sacrifice the cabbage o_O.

Does your trailer have a ground wire from the plug to the trailer tongue/frame or is it grounded through the hitch? I've seen that pose a problem if no ground wire from the plug to the trailer frame.

I have a Stihl MS290 and it's a great all around saw, gets heavy limbing but it's big enough to cut decent size stuff. If you just need something for storm cleanup, the MS250 like Kirk shared would be a good one too.

I reckon I need to put the skidsteer in the shop and tear into it. I ask my son to level out where we burnt the brush pile Monday. (10 minute job)

He and I ran the machine about 20 hours when we cleared the food plot with no problems and it's been sitting in the shed for over a month.

He was on it less than 3 minutes and he walked up to where I was at the shop. He said the right side control stick wouldn't move but a tad.

I went down and was hoping he just didn't have the seatbelt latched good cause you can't run it without it hooked. That wasn't it.

It would move about 3' front or back and lock up. Left side was fine, I kept messing with it and something popped inside and it worked fine. Not sure if a wheel bearing went bad or something to do with the drive chain from wheel to wheel. I suspect a wheel bearing.

They really aren't that bad on the axles, had to put some axle bearings in the Case I had years ago and also repair the chain. It broke once, #60 HD chain. Biggest one I've ever messed with. Kinda like working on a mower to be honest, just heavier.

A great all around saw is the farm boss

My neighbor has one and it rips.
It’s not a pro saw but a good saw. I have the 311 and it does everything I want it to but it’s heavy. Most folks when they got alot of wood to deal with get 2 saws. One big and one small. But a solid all rounder you can’t beat the farm boss

I run a Stihl 029 Farm Boss that I bought in 1997 - still runs great. I had to replace the electrical module once - only issue I've had with it.

I just replaced the bar (18") and got 2 new chains. I'm good for another 20 years!

Oh, and I always run non-ethanol gas in it.

Fixed. Simple loose ground on the trailer harness. Oddly it’s the back of the battery box screw which I don’t feel will be a solid connection as the box is plastic through the frame. Something to keep an eye on

Bought the same set a week or so ago, definitely beefy. Took them to the local mower for sharpening. Bring on the leaves!

You funny. That's a big boy saw for sure. NOT for the faint of heart or wallet.

I actually have the 250 & 291 both. They are great saws.

That 250 is great for limbing or other medium to light stuff.
The 291 is good for all kinds of stuff for the non pro. It does get heavy pretty quick though.

500i or 880i are like taking a vette to a go cart race.

The weight of the 500i would wear me out.
