I am currently looking for some budget upper control arms I already have a2.5-3 inch lift and need better clearance at full droop.currently I don’t have any rubbing and don’t want control arms that will cause me to rub my cab mount. I have been looking at the freedom offroad upper control arms and was wondering if those are any good.

Pretty much all the arms built for 2-3” of lift will have caster built in. So you’ll have to get alignment done by someone who knows what they’re doing. SPC have more adjustability but some alignment guys have issue with them for some reason. Also some guys have complained about ball joints on them.

    Never heard of it.

heard of JD. Been there. Got them. Good price as well.

if I have JD pivots that only JD makes then I’m probably going to keep brands matched since it’s designed by the same people to work together and not 40 different brands. I don’t see a reason for that unless it’s the adjustable DK arms.

When you say caster built in will it move the wheel closer or farther from the cab mount.because my tire is very close but doesn’t rub and I don’t want it to start rubbing. I don’t have an alignment issue but my ball joint angle is bad.

The upper ball joint moves rearward with added caster. New UCA's don't increase tire clearance from the body mount.

By adjusting the lower arms all the way forward and maxing out caster, that's what gives the most clearance to the body mount.

Will the added caster cause a rubbing issue? Do the spcs have the ability to move the wheel away from the cab mount

Spcs allow you to move the tire forward using the lower arm and you can set them up to have proper caster and camber independently. As for how much I think getting up to 5 deg is possible and maybe more? SPC's also can have a host of other issues but to me they are worth the tradeoffs

Why dont you just get the body mount chopped? Its cheap and the proper way to clear tires.

I am not currently rubbing my body mount with my stock upper control arms and my alignment is good, but my ball joint angle is bad and my coil spring is close to my upper control arm. I just want to get new control arms and keep the same alignment specks just with a better ball joint angle.

I have 265-70-17 and need caster set to at least 4 not to rub the inner mud flap when at full lock in reverse.

I just installed the Freedom Off-Road UCAS. I have an Eibach stage 1 kit set for 2” lift up front and run a 255/85r/16 Wildpeak AT4s. Alignment was fantastic, and I have zero issues with rubbing in any condition.

All aftermarket upper control arms made for the Tacoma have built in extra caster. Aside from OE style, SPC and some that have adjustable heim joints.

What kind of lift do you have? Spacers?
