    Just set myself up a portable blind on the edge of this corn field . Guy down the road says his friend works for the farmer and this corn should stay until November possibly December because it’s high moisture corn :notsure: what ever the hell that means .

    My brother's house lost power around noon - my mom still has power but it has tried to go out 3x thus far..

    South of the [Tampa] bay would be optimal and mean my brother's house should be spared..
    This is his genius line: My house is at 20ft ASL [above/sea/level] and the storm surge is supposed to be 15ft so I'm good
    He lives in the second to last evac zone
    For the record he is not at his house, he is up at my mom's so he isn't that stupid ... just trying to be hopeful I think

    But Andrew went straight thru, quickly, and decimated Homestead..
    So I am expecting some shit to get wrecked, badly, I guess we'll see in the morning
    I have some neighbors that survived Andrew in Homestead, they live here now in part because of that wreckage; they wanted off the Hurricane ride after that one

    It’s a bad storm, but will diminish on its path after/during landfall. I’m of the Go! Variety. It sucks bad enough being evacuated. No need making yourself a statistic too. I’ll be moving in a few years, because the cost/benefit just doesn’t make sense anymore with the kids moving out. Want some more buffer between me and neighbors now.
