yaaaa im figuring that out now lol. when it comes to bikes they have always been great and tbh cover more with them.... but with my truck atm they have been annoying... the adjuster that im meeting next week is at the ford dealer i took it to for an estimate... i was even told by my claims manager that they normally just agree with what this dealer tells them since its an approved place that they do work with... my guess is they are trying to wait me out to see if ill take the stupid low ball offer so they can be done with it.

Is blue springs Ford one of their "network shops?" If so, generally if one of those shops writes an estimate and the customer either wants to cash out or repair they are fairly quick. Sometimes it could be the shop wrote items that might be damaged but can't be seen yet or maybe they didn't provide photos.

My last claim I had to send them photos of the damage for them to review. It was fun trying to take pictures of hail damage…

yes blue springs ford is one of the network shops and is where im going. they have done repairs on a few other vehicles i have had and have done great.

atm there has been two estimates the one insurance gave me with looking at the photos and video that i put on the app to start the claim. plus the one from blue springs ford that was done in person.
i called my claim manager back and told him and showed him what they are claiming is broken and the items they believe are broken but cant tell until they get the truck into the shop. but since the two estimates are so far off they want to see it in person.

The pain wasn’t so much getting them to see the damage as it was convincing someone who doesn’t know anything about trailers that an aluminum one costs significantly more than a steel one.

I use them as well but I'm on their short list. Basically they know that if they piss me off I will immediately go to the State Department of insurance. It's always over something small too that would take them 10 seconds and a few hundred bucks to pay out. It ends up being a decent payday for me and a headache for them plus a strike against them with the state.

Fyi, Missouri State Department of insurance are really good at what they do. I've used them against State farm too. When one of their drivers hit me and they didn't want to play ball. They played ball real quick when they got a phone call from Jefferson City

sooo here is the thing, the Department of insurance (commonly called DOI) complaints actually don't mean/amount to much. Yes, we never want to have one filed... but the majority are reviewed and considered of no value to continue. The issue is most people don't read or understand their policies. You are not legally entitled to OEM parts on any KS/MO claim (among most states) unless you have an OEM endorsement or there aren't alternative parts available. This is a conversation between customer and agent when shopping/comparing policies, not when it is too late and with an adjuster.

Generally when a vehicle is at a network shop it is 10 times easier for supplements/approvals. I also try and tell every person I deal with, we don't get discounts on parts/labor etc from a network shop vs non network. The difference is the customer gets a lifetime warranty that the insurance company stands behind vs at a non network shop since we have vetted their business, shop, equipment, and workmanship.

I always recommend shopping around yearly for insurance to compare coverages/rates/etc.

So my experience with the DOI and multiple insurance agencies says that your claim is false. DOI absolutely will tell insurance agencies to quit mucking around and get to paying their customers.

As far as Network shops... Insurance companies run off some silly ass ancient metric where they think shops only charge 70 bucks an hour for labor and that's how they do a lot of their estimates. Granted that is a state issued labor rate, but it just isn't true anywhere in any state anymore and insurance companies refuse to adjust their rates accordingly. So the customer ends up arguing usually fruitlessly and accepting a lower payout.

As far as OEM parts goes, progressive CarMax State farm and Geico all refused to use OEM Parts on repairs. They flat out refused to. You can argue till you're blue in the face. They will not put OEM Parts on your vehicle. They will go with the cheapest crappy junk made in 100 acre wood and tell you it's good enough.

I've never heard of an insurance company warranting the work that the shop does, so that's an interesting take. Definitely going to have to look into that

But what it boils down to is everybody hates insurance. Because it's a legal scam. Lol

Insurance is definitely scam. You could make no claims for YEARS but as soon as you make one BOOM! They drop you immediately

You don't even have to make a claim. You can literally just ask an adjuster a question about your policy and they file it as a claim. Because adjusters are literally Satan's children. And then it goes on your clue report and it's there forever. They say it drops off after 5 years but for the last 8 years Geico has claimed that I made a windshield claim with them and I never did. I've tried fighting it saying they never paid out but nobody cares. Because it's a glass claim. I told my progressive lady that if that ever comes up in my report when talking with them I will file with the state against both them and Geico because it's a false claim made in my name which is fraud. She said technically yes but also good luck and I'm like try me and find out bitch.

Instead they lowered my rate. Like I said, I'm on progressive short list. :D

sadly i know the oem parts is true but i know certain places can fight them like blue springs ford and give you oem parts it sometimes takes a bit but they have won out in the past for me on some stuff.

i do need to start shopping around thou... ive been with progressive since i moved out back in 2020? and my rates are always all over the place... right now for a car thats on liability and the f150 im at roughly 220? a month if i remember right? not including my motorcycles... plus here soon im going to be adding the gf to my insurance which is going to raise it a lot since she is under 25 so fun times!

It's just a protection racket. 'Oh would be a shame if something happened to your (car/motorcycle/house/business). Pay us just in case.' 'Oh also, we have the right to drop you without ever covering anything despite all the money you give us.'

A whole lot of misinformation or anger directed in the wrong places. Insurance is a business and businesses are there to make money. Don't like what goes on? Vote, write your senators, department of insurance groups etc. Insurance is 100% not a racket and anyone stating so is honestly foolish or special. You want to complain about rates? Blame ambulance chasers, fraudulent claims, weather, etc.

Most people cannot wrap their head around the fact that you pay lets say $100-$150 a month for comp/collision/BI/PIP, etc coverages. $1200-$1,800 a year. You get in 1 accident and total out a new escalade and your company is paying out potentially $100k. Companies do not drop you for 1 claim. It is a balancing act on any and all customers. 1. do they want to offer insurance to you. 2. How likely are you file file a claim. 3. How likely is a weather event going to happen. 4. etc 5. etc.

Put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself, why would anyone want to insure someone in CA, TX, FL, LA? The fires in California, the weather in TX/LA/FL losses could exceed $100 billion.

Do I work for an insurance company, yes. Do I like paying insurance, no. Is it something I will gladly pay to protect my assets, family, and other things from frivolous lawsuits... 100%.

Also, Blue Springs Ford just price matches OEM to recycled or a/m, they don't get insurance companies to use OEM without approval. It is a game played by both sides.

I am guessing they just price matched, they do it a lot on our estimates.

I have Comp/Coll with $250 deductibles,BI (bodily injury), PIP, rental, towing, on a 2017 SUV and a 2012 Toyota and combined I pay $160 a month. You need to be shopping around.

i pay about 220 for my 98 civic and my 17 f150.. ive been wanting to look around but havent yet since im in the middle of a claim atm. once the claim is done i plan to look around and see what prices i can get for my stuff alone and adding my gf to it. ill most likely leave my bikes on progressive since they have a bit better coverage for bikes.

Always check about every 1-2 years unless you are happy with your company. I had insurance with the company I work for and loved the coverages and claims/agents. The problem was the vehicle and house prices continued to climb 10-12% every year. I made the switch to a competitor and saved 25% or more between cars and house.
