I do the Motoscan app, adapter cable, and OBD2 dongle to reset all my service things and run actuators, etc. I think all in I'm under $150 including a cheapo android phone since motoscan isn't on iOS.

Yes. But they don't work that great. I turn that off, and just do it the old school way

My ULH doesn’t have self canceling turn signals either. I have to remember to put my arm down.

hey chuck this will be a long shot here but a buddy of mine picked up a 80s yamaha venture that is stock but has some custom pin stripe work on it done out in cali. the bike has 100k + miles on it and has a log of all the places its been for fuel and states! (even gone to Canada!). if i can figure out the name for it and get some pics ill post them but was wondering if you know the guy since it seems he was a iron butt kinda guy.

Long shot agreed but would still take a look. Iron Butt Association roster now shows 80k plus members so there are more idiots like me than you realize.....May @FreshOldTaco and I can even con(vince) you into trying one....

haha yup it is! especially since this looks to have been done in the 90s into the 2000s and then the bike got parked at one point.

trying one maybe unsure if id truly want to do it on the bolt lol. we have looked into other bikes to be able to do long distance riding so if we want to go somewhere but dont wanna drive a truck or car. issue is pricing on some of the bikes we like are still at 10k or more lol so it makes it hard to justify a cost on a bike that will be mainly sit until you go on a longer ride.

It was a thrill attempting a long ride I had no clue I'd complete. Prior to that I think ~330 miles was the most I rode in a day. The challenge of finishing in the time window adds to the fun and adventure. And aside from a great to story to tell you'll officially be recognized as one of the world's toughest riders!

i guess lol the fjr id have to see one in person to truly say no to. the st thou i can say no to since i really dont like its looks.

a bike i like for its looks and since it has the same motor as my bolt just bigger is the yamaha venture star 2018 and newer buuuut they are still around 15-16k for a used one with 30ish k miles...

this fjr would be one id be interested in looking at but told my self no new bikes this year.

see thats the one problem i dont like dead lines haha. the idea of finishing in a certain time just wouldnt be me since i like to stop a lot and look at things and take pics a lot lol. so i could do it yes but not in the time frame.

That might change over time. When I first started out riding I never imagined going that far on a bike. Seemed almost impossible even but once I got more experience and met more people that rode longer distances and further away my interests changed a little. Eventually the challenge of it became more appealing and eventually I wanted to try it. Once that first one was completed I knew I'd do more. I warned @FreshOldTaco that for many riders that happens and this country becomes a whole lot smaller. Now I'm a bit of a blend of both, stopping to see the sights and take them in combined with moving on to the next cool sight.

wanting to hit deadlines wont change lol ive always liked to stop unless im needing to go to the bathroom! then im finding that deadline lmao. ive always been a bit more relaxed with things like comps so idk if id truly try and rush to get the miles done under a time frame. id still prefer for some rides to take the truck and trailer the bike but im also not against riding the bike for a few hundred miles. yes i did 490 miles recently and tbh it wasnt bad minus my blown out seat starting to really really hurt lol.

True, HD has had them for decades. For some reason the Japanese makes never caught on for a long time.

Picked up this 2012 Street Glide last weekend with only 5K miles. Already has the full exhaust, stage one, SE tuner, and aftermarket rims. Got it for a good price as the prior owned rode it once this year and didn't want to store it this winter. My favorite time of the year to buy, well at least in the northern states it is.
